As far as lame ass NY is concerned, what am i legally allowed to have on a post ban lower rifle. Im about to build a upper and want to be a law abiding(lol) good boy. This wasnt a issue on my varmint build but this is going to a m4 style. Thanks.

Same as here in the PRNJ:
No flash suppressor
No accessible threads on muzzle
Brake and compensator are ok as long as they are permanently attached to the muzzle
Minimum 16" from face of closed bolt to end of barrel and permanent muzzle attachment
No bayonet lug
No grenade launcher
No folding or collapsible stock

Other than that, you're good to go here in the gulag

Whats the differance between a flash suppressor and a muzzle brake, compensater?They all thread onto the barrel?

They all attach to the muzzle end of the barrel.  Some thread on, some slip on and are pinned.  The threaded ones need to be attached in such a way as to make the threads permanently inaccessible.

When you look at the exit end of a muzzle attachment, the hole in compensators and brakes is approximately the size of the bullet.  A flash suppressor has a much larger opening.
