Well the door bell rang with the UPS driver there with a 4'+ tall box that weighed 62lbs

Here it is

A 1943 Dated M1917A1 Heavy Machine gun Tripod.
All I need now is a water cooled.

When I opened the box I was like this.

Nice setup! Looks a little out of place though. Better put it away before the wife comes home.

Judging the height of your new tripod, looks like you can use the sofa-chair the next time you hit the range.

I'm going to guess that's a semi 1919 on top?

Hey fishpaw, is that a Sokolov? 1910 Maxim? carriage?

Phil...Yes it is indeed. You know your gun mounts.  The maxim parts kit (minus the sideplates) is just off camera.

Sweet    What is even better the 1919 drops right in to your mount.

Did you get that from Coles?

Where do you shoot these in the NJ area? I'm a member of Cherry Ridge but belt feds are not allowed.
Does Fort Dix still allow these and rapid fire?

Yea we shoot at Ft Dix.  I have not been in a while.  So I do not really know how much it has changed.

You can shoot anything up to a .50 at Ft Dix, or at least the last time I was there. They didnt mind the 1919a4, although there are always some questions. As for the sokolov mount, I bought it and the Maxim parts kit from IMA. Now im just waiting for that semi auto design to be approved.

Did you build the 1919 yourself or is that a Ohio Ord gun?

Thanks guys.

edpmedic

No I did not build it.  I got it from Ohio Rapid fire.  OOW makes the Semi auto BAR and Water cooled 30cals.
If I had to do it over again I would go with a different maker, as I have had numerous problems with it.  I still have some feeding problems also there were some issues with how the gun was assembled.  I think I have fixed most of the problems with it except I have an on going battle against rust.  It seems ORF does not know how to parkerize weapons.
