Lets pick a date and get another one in the books. Maybe the 2nd week-end in September?
Almost everyone that shows up to the NJ BLASTs will be willing to let you try their guns. Most people love to show off and one of the best ways is to let everyone else try your gun. And if no one else will let you shoot theirs, just find me (as long as I can get out of work that weekend). |
wait wait, so is this going to be at calverton or are you talking about the nj blast?
Well the NJ boys have their own shoot its a bit of a trip for them to get to Calverton and a bit of a trip for us to go to theirs. We will be having ours at Calverton
Yeah, Calverton is almost 300 miles from me... |
Calverton is exit 71 on the LIE. If you guys come to our shoot I'll come down to the Jersey shoot with some of the gang!!
For you NJ guys Calverton is located on the eastern end of Long Island...exit 71 off the Long Island Expressway...about a 1 hour 20 minute drive from NYC(not including traffic)...
Bout 2 hr drive for me, should be fine depending on the time of the event.
for those concerned, i have yet to hit any serious traffic going to calverton, but maybe im just immune to traffic from living NYC my whole life and dont count the normal LIE slowdowns.
eitherway its really not a bad drive to be honest, just dont speed down the LIE (esp w/ guns in the car).... most of the police are using laser so says my valentine one - so you are warned lol SO! Is September 10th @ the usual time the tentative date for now???? |
I think they finished construction on the LIE. The last 40 mile stretch from Medford to Queens adding the HOV? Looked pretty clear these days.
Calverton isn't that bad to get to unless you get stuck in some Hamptons traffic.
I'm down for a shoot, Mark if you want to drive I'll head to Joisey with you. |
ARG! I'll be in school that weekend! And I'll have completed my rifle by then too. WAHH!!!
I guess I have to use up 800 rounds of XM193 by myself before going to college or else the ammo might go bad . Right down to the preztel hiding in one of those boxes. |
Yea I just went to State College PA 2 weekends ago. Long ass trip but well worth it. I think you would find the same and have a real good time. |
Is that the official and final date? everyone good for that date???
You can't even do that. A person without a NY pistol permit cannot even touch a handgun in NYS even in the required pistol class for getting a permit. |
LOL Wow and I thought NJ sucked |

That's not true anymore in some cases. The Penal Law was changed several years ago and there are now several exemptions. The exemptions are for organized pistol competitions, college coaches and college pistol teams, possession by 18-20 year olds to fire a handgun at a range under the supervision of a NY pistol license holder and for applicants who have applied for a NY pistol license and want to fire a handgun under the supervision of a instructor. Depending on the specific exemption you may have to meet several other conditions. assembly.state.ny.us/leg/?cl=82&a=68 ARTICLE 265 FIREARMS AND OTHER DANGEROUS WEAPONS Section 265.00 Definitions. S 265.20 Exemptions. .................................. 7-b. Possession and use, at an indoor or outdoor pistol range located in or on premises owned or occupied by a duly incorporated organization organized for conservation purposes or to foster proficiency in small arms or at a target pistol shooting competition under the auspices of or approved by the national rifle association for the purpose of loading and firing the same, by a person who has applied for a license to possess a pistol or revolver and pre-license possession of same pursuant to section 400.00 or 400.01 of this chapter, who has not been previously denied a license, been previously convicted of a felony or serious offense, and who does not appear to be, or pose a threat to be, a danger to himself or to others, and who has been approved for possession and use herein in accordance with section 400.00 or 400.01 of this chapter; provided however, that such possession shall be of a pistol or revolver duly licensed to and shall be used under the supervision, guidance and instruction of, a person specified in paragraph seven of this subdivision and provided further that such possession and use be within the jurisdiction of the licensing officer with whom the person has made application therefor or within the jurisdiction of the superintendent of state police in the case of a retired sworn member of the division of state police who has made an application pursuant to section 400.01 of this chapter. ....................................... 7-e. Possession and use of a pistol or revolver, at an indoor or outdoor pistol range located in or on premises owned or occupied by a duly incorporated organization organized for conservation purposes or to foster proficiency in small arms or at a target pistol shooting competition under the auspices of or approved by an association or organization described in paragraph 7-a of this subdivision for the purpose of loading and firing the same by a person at least eighteen years of age but under the age of twenty-one who has not been previously convicted of a felony or serious offense, and who does not appear to be, or pose a threat to be, a danger to himself or to others; provided however, that such possession shall be of a pistol or revolver duly licensed to and shall be used under the immediate supervision, guidance and instruction of, a person specified in paragraph seven of this subdivision. ....................................... 12. Possession of a pistol or revolver by a person who is a member or coach of an accredited college or university target pistol team while transporting the pistol or revolver into or through New York state to participate in a collegiate, olympic or target pistol shooting competition under the auspices of or approved by the national rifle association, provided such pistol or revolver is unloaded and carried in a locked carrying case and the ammunition therefor is carried in a separate locked container. 13. Possession of pistols and revolvers by a person who is a nonresident of this state while attending or traveling to or from, an organized competitive pistol match or league competition under auspices of, or approved by, the National Rifle Association and in which he is a competitor, within forty-eight hours of such event or by a person who is a non-resident of the state while attending or traveling to or from an organized match sanctioned by the International Handgun Metallic Silhouette Association and in which he is a competitor, within forty-eight hours of such event, provided that he has not been previously convicted of a felony or a crime which, if committed in New York, would constitute a felony, and further provided that the pistols or revolvers are transported unloaded in a locked opaque container together with a copy of the match program, match schedule or match registration card. Such documentation shall constitute prima facie evidence of exemption, providing that such person also has in his possession a pistol license or firearms registration card issued in accordance with the laws of his place of residence. For purposes of this subdivision, a person licensed in a jurisdiction which does not authorize such license by a person who has been previously convicted of a felony shall be presumed to have no prior conviction. The superintendent of state police shall annually review the laws of jurisdictions within the United States and Canada with respect to the applicable requirements for licensing or registration of firearms and shall publish a list of those jurisdictions which prohibit possession of a firearm by a person previously convicted of a felony or crimes which if committed in New York state would constitute a felony. |

Your +10 mags must also be manufactured prior to 09-14-1994. If you have blocked (15 round) 30 round preban mags that is OK but only if they are preban. |
