Staten Island Ferry Crashes; 20 Hurt
At approx. 16:25 (EST) hours this date a reported hard docking of the Staten Island Ferry, at the St. Georges Ferry Terminal in Staten Island, NY occurred. Initial reports that there are upwards of 20-25 injuries, most appear non-life threatening at this time. NYC-EMS has transmitted a 10-38 (Marine/Harbor Incident) MCI.
Multiple units EMS, FD, & PD are operating and patients are being stabilizied and backboarded on the lower level of the very large vessel. Visibililty was poor at the time of the accident with the ferry reported to have hit "the rack" at portion of wooden pilings at the dock placed to assist the vessels when docking.

The condition of the patients is unknown at the time of this report, and the cause of the crash is also not known.

Listening to 1010 WINS on my way home, they said that the captain ran home from the boat after the crash and slit his wrists, and then
"shot himself numerous times with a BB gun".

He must not have thought it was too bad of an accident to only get a BB gun...?

Now I checked Newsday.com and it stated;

"At Least 10 Killed in S.I. Ferry Crash"

"The mayor said the crew, which included two captains, were not hurt. He said they were being interviewed and were undergoing routine tests for drugs and alcohol."
