If we don't get rain before the weekend it's a sure thing to take second in the record book. Next week is supposed to be more of the same, so the longest streak from '80 might be broken too.
Breaking the record for the highest low temp was one I could really have done without. 86* for the low? That's just not right. Jim |

wait until that electric bill comes in. I can offset the electricity costs in the winter with propane heat, but can't offset any of this AC bill.

My latest electric bill was $350.00, but that is mostly my fault. I looked and my outside a/c unit was plugged by cottonwood fuzz. I cleaned it and now the a/c actually cycles off during the day. before it ran all the time.
I also found that when they ran the ducts in the house they didn't seal the ducts at the plenum. I am tackling that this weekend. The house was built in '71. Heat tracker: 27 consecutive days, 34 total of 100* bliss. Jim |

This is crazy, Ive had very little rain in the last three years and I'm losing a ton of huge oak trees, I lost count at about 70. Unfortunalty at this point, even if it does rain they will continue to die due to stress.

Global warming? Naw. It's just summer. Where were they when we had near record cold? In fact someone posted a pic from Wyoming or someplace up north back around the end of May. The state had just cleared the roads of snow. The snow bank looked to be about 20 feet high. Global warming = a Texas summer. Jim |

They might be ironed and pressed too. I poured a concrete street patch today. I swear I expected to see it start to bubble in the hole. From the time I initially worked it to when I brommed it and left was a little over an hour. I am actually starting to worry about it. If it cures too quickly it can crack, but I can't put a sprinkler out in the street. Sidewalks tomorrow and the rest of the week. I think one will be in the shade.

We're already on track to tie 1980 as the hottest year in recorded Texas history. Average temperature from June 1 - August 4 is 89.6 degrees for 1980 and 2011. 1980 had high temperatures of about 2 degrees higher than 2011 so far, but 2011's lowes are about 2 degrees higher than 1980.
That's neat and all buy my pond is almost dry and I'm starting to lose trees. I really feel for my farmer / rancher neighbors. No rain = no hay = very bad. |

44 days over 100 degrees here in Wichita Falls. Yesterday was 111 and today was 112. Our highest low temp was 88 degrees a couple of weeks ago.

I really feel sorry for my girls. One is about to turn 10 and the other 11. So far they haven't been able to go out and do much- no bike riding, etc. because it's just too hot. About the only fun they have had is going to a waterpark- season tickets, and movies and sleepovers. Way too many sleepovers.

This afternoon in Wichita Falls,it rained a little bit and the temperature dropped to 77 degrees at one point. However,since the temp was over 100 degrees before the storm arrived,our 52 day record is still ongoing.

We lucked out and got 2.5" from the big system that swooped in overnight. Started thundering around 4AM. Was raining from about 4:45-11:30AM. Great for our pastures, if it's not too late for anything to grow, but didn't do a damn thing for the lake.
