I thought I did not need any help with the aftermath of the storm but it seems I do need to ask for it now.

I just got word from the apartment complex that I am at that it is unsalvageable. Most of the shingles on the roof blew off and water got in to thru it. This pool in the ceilings causing some to collapse. Most of the water drained down to the walls and became moldy. Given the amount of time that has lapse, it has gotten outta hand.

It seems that Jefferson Parish(county i live in) will be letting residents in sometime toward the end of the month. I am currently attempting to schedule a time off at work so that I can go to my apartment and salvage what I can. Put those that I can salvage in storage. Take pics for my renters insurance.

Here's what I need help with. I know no one here in LA. I need assistance to box and load my stuff in a U Haul truck. Just to forewarn you. It will be a very messy job. I live on the 3rd Floor. The parking lot is about 20yds from my building. From the reports I got, the stnch of the mold can be over powering. I don't predict I will have much left to pack up so maybe a 2day gig. Also planning on storing my stuff in storage in DFW. There is a 99% chance I will be coming back......

I will rent the U Haul truck and get the boxes. All I really need is a few people to help me lug all this stuff. 2-3 armed guys oughta do it. Probably looking at a weekend. Fri. Sat Sun. I can't offer much in a form of compensation. Maybe free meals while you are here. Few bucks to augment your gas money.

Just respond on this thread. I will IM you info as to the dates.

I think a high BAC is pretty good protection.

From talking with LT, it looks like it will be the weekend of the 23,24,25 of this month.

Another update. Look like my company is moving me again to another office to free up space. Currently sharing and office with one other person. So it looks like, if we can get hotel rooms, I will be moving to Beuamont TX. Well at least its TX.

Only 4hrs away from my place in Kenner, so that not bad at all.

I was able to go back to my aprtment this morning. Overall, not bad....

Mold is growing in walls due to sepage of water.
One of the bedrooms that I use as an office, the ceiling collapsed. Water on carpets and basically drenched the room.
The kitchen had a lot of water sepage.

The good news is that the living room and bedroom was untouched. It is as if nothing ever happened. THe beer bottle I left on the coffee table was still there. No water aside from the walls.

Guys thanks for all the offers of coming down to help me out. I only need 2-3 of you. Looks like HOund and Redgoat are the best candidates since they do not have much conflict with work.

I am planning on coming up to Dallas on Thurs. My work may be firing me. Long story but I am sure that I can sue if that happens. Anyways, I am going to do some preliminary background check with an agency so that I can do consulting again. Same job as I did when I lived there and the one that brought me back from CA prior to moving here.

So Redgoat and Hound I will try to hook up with you guys on Thurs night and probably head out on Friday morning. Get there Fri afternoon. Pack, nudie bar. Sat. morning load Sat afternoon drive back to Dallas. Sunday I drive back to Baton Rouge and hope I still have a job.

Good to hear that most, if not all, of your stuff is in good shape. Be sure to let the apartment people know you are coming back to get it so they won't think it's abandoned.

Still trying to find my nephew. My sis and family went back to Ponchoula, just branches and stuff in their yard. The small factory in Ponchatoula had a leak in the roof, no damage just messy. I'm not sure of the factory in NO they owned is still around, it was across the street from the Destiny housing project.

Hope the job situation works out better for you than it sounds right now. Once you back into DFW, let me know if you need any help.

Well I went to my apartment again this morning to meet with an insurance claims adjuster. The tarp that they put over the room blew off. The ceiling in my bedroom ended up collapsing too. More water damage in the outside wall and more water pooling in the kitchen ceiling. Managed to save my George Foreman grill though, so I am alright. I may have to move up my move. I am going to go and buy boxes and pack up what I can tomorrow. Supposedly, there is just going to be a bit more rain this afternoon and clear up tomorrow.

Guns no...none...remeber I sold all my guns except 2. Those were with me the whole time.

Electronics...yes. When the ceiling collapsed in the second bedroom. The water in the ceiling dumped all over my desk and computer and printer. When I was there this morning, the cealing right above my tv in the bedroom collapsed dumping water on the TV. Can't tell if the stereo and tv in the living is shot. I still don't have power, but it seems to be holding out.

If I can get a truck, I would like for this to happen this coming weekend.
