I don't know about any of the other gunshops around Des Moines but I do know that Jack Smith won't do transfers...especially for firearms he already carries or can get. He's did a couple transfers for me in the past but I used to work for him at gun shows and what I had transfered in was odd-ball used guns that he couldn't get/didn't have.
We do transfers but most people don't live around the New Virginia area (north of Osceola) as that's where our FFL is licensed to...if you're interested IM me as I won't do business over the open board. Thanks!

There are about 5 DesMoines area transfering dealers listing thier services on auctionarms.com

Jim's Gun and Pawn on SE 14th does 'em, and judging by the guy that handles most of their firearms work, he'd be more apt to congratulate you on your new AK than look at you funny.
I *think* their fee is $50. |

Chris McAninch at Guns and more. He is in Grimes. I highly recommend him. $10.00 transfers for members $25.00 for non-members. He is a stand up guy.

You're welcome. If you need the info I can resend it, but I am guessing you figured something out. Black rifles don't seem to be as evil now that the ban has gone away. However, I have heard that some places (like Scheels) are still convinced of their evilness.
