We aren't a very chatty bunch are we ?

We're a quiet bunch. Totally unrelated, I'm stoked to be checking out the Hartford range today for the first time.

Are you talking about Hunters Pointe? I was. It's an awesome range, I really enjoyed it. Did you shoot on the 600 range? Someone told me you have to prove you can hit at 200 first? True? We shoot at 200 regularly, but would like to practice further. |

We shoot at 200 regularly, but would like to practice further. We set up, shot steel at 200 then started working our way to the 300, 400 and finally the six. No one said anything to us, so I'm pretty sure you'd be good to go. I think as long as you're not an asshole they pretty much leave you alone. |
Fantastic!
Look at us go, Meltdown. Like a regular group of chatty hens. |
I am going to have to go check out that range. I keep hearing about it but haven't went yet. July through October: Tues-Thurs Noon to 8:00pm Fri Noon to 6:00pm Sat-Sun 10:00 to 6:00 http://www.hunterspointesd.com/ |
I havent been to the range portion just shot the sporting clays for a few events.
Fun course although there are a few spots where with the wrong wind they have to toss clays differently which leads to pelting other station shooters. I caught a few BBs last time I was there and they sting The owner seems like a real nice guy and personable. |
I just got back to Missouri from your state. I popped a few prairie dogs while there, camped in spearfish canyon, visited Mt Rushmore and had a catastrophic electrical failure in my truck. It still sits at the shop in rapid city, they cant seems to get it squared away. I'll go back out in a couple weeks and get it.

I have also used the rifle range and it is a nice set up but the per day fee is a little high for me. |
The daily fee is what has kept us away until now. We have access to 200, but need to stretch out before a western deer hunt.
Now that summer is half over we will finally be able to shoot a USPSA match this weekend.
cool. see ya sunday! you can register online this year if you'd like.
Can't pay online but can sign up and choose a squad https://practiscore.com/clubs/sioux-falls-practical-shooters-1 |

I suppose everyone is too busy prepping for hunting season to talk.
We got paddlefish tags! |
We're busy trying to squeeze in as much motorcycle riding and shooting as possible before winter hits.
I remember my arms felt like they had turned to stone. It was worth it. Very Tasty. Have Fun! |
Looks like most of the activity is on your side of the state. Not much out West for ranges or events, and they are usually poorly timed for me.
*bump* |
I was just out west last week doing some fly fishing(some work mixed in there too). Weather was perfect and looked like the tourists were starting to clear out.
Didnt want to come back to the cornfields |

I visited two relatively new gun shops last week. Blue Collar Tactical in Sioux Falls and Gunway in Harrisburg. Gunway has a cool simulator and live fire all in one setup. Looks very interesting.
Blue Collar Tactical had a good inventory and prices to match. Now is the time to buy. I am not affiliated with either entity. |
SoDak Sports is opening a shop in Mitchell. They are based out of Aberdeen and are fantastic people to deal with, probably my fav gun shop in the Midwest.

Best for FFL transfers in the Sioux Falls area IMO. |

Any of you fellas live around Deadwood? I'll be cycling through there Tuesday, looking to grab food and drinks for dinner. I'll prob be getting a beer in Sturgis as well.

Thanks. I'm breaking outta enemy lines in a few hours, heading to the Badlands and then going to mosey around Rapid City to refill on coffee and whiskey. I look forward to taking the road bike around the Black Hills for a few days. I'll definitely report back on the brewery thread on where I chose to visit. I hope the Black Hills Burger & Bun burger isn't a let down! View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

As someone in Rapid City this place sucks for ranges. Luckily I can just run home to Lemmon and have all the public land in the world to shoot dogs on. Wouldn't hate making some shooting friends though!
Only problem with public land is the lack of permanent shooting structures like benches or gongs. But I really do need to look into good prairie dog colonies in the area I would assume most are shot at all the time.

yeah I just bump this thread occasionally so as not to catch any "low traffic" grief from a certain mod ;)

I like sledding with the kids and skiing with the wife, other than that spring can get here anytime.

Got a new truck so I was curious to see how it would be in the snow...Also bought a snowblower. Now the snow can go away
