"Castle Doctrine" is the part of our existing laws that remove your "duty to retreat" when you are confronted in your (MI) home.  This has been on the books for a long time.

I think you are referring to Florida's "Shoot First Law", which protects law-abiding citizens from criminal and civil prosecution for defending themself in a public place without first retreating, is not (yet) law in MI.
