Just curious if anyone towards Knoxville area would be interested in a night shoot, with night vision / thermal, etc.  I don't have a location or time frame just seeing what ideas others have.

I got a buddy in your AO. I just told him about this thread. He should be interested.

I'd be interested in camping as well.  Or sitting by the fire and drinking.

Or both.

Depending on everything, I'd be in.

Well at least there is some interest.  Now to start putting together the pieces.

Will there be rape?  That will determine my interest.

I have no night vision.

My wife bought me a streamlight for Christmas.  "It had awesome reviews!"

She was confused by the warning labels.  Did some digging and sent it back before she wrapped it.  It was IR.

"I didn't want to give you an excuse to spend 2000 bucks on night vision."  Witch.

I still have no night vision.  But if I did I'd be right there with ya!

There's still time! Hurry!

I think like TNVC even rents them...

I wish I had access to land, or could engage a range somewhere.

We have had low-light shoots at Volunteer Rifle & Pistol Club/John Sevier Hunter Ed. Center, north of Knoxville, in the past.  Usually, they were held the Saturday night after the weekend when changing back to Standard Time.  No shooting allowed after 10:00 pm, so we try to start around 6:00.

Our events focused on handguns, but had a stage for shotguns, shooting steel and paper, switching from birdshot to slugs, depending on the target.  Stages were IDPA-style, with little or no light.  Shooters used hand-held or weapon-mounted lights.  Laser were OK.  Never had anyone ask about night vision, but that would be fine, too.

We may have one this fall.

If we have one this fall, I'll post a notice.

We are also planning to have a modified NRA America's Rifle Challenge (ARC) shoot this spring.  The course is designed for the AR-15/M4, but any magazine fed rifle/carbine will work.  Ours will be 7-75 yards, due to range limitations, instead of 7-100 yards.  Shooting standing, kneeling and prone, around barricades and takes a little over a 100 rounds.

Good shoot. Neighborhood game is awesome. There is a 25 acre patch of woods less than 400 yards from my house. "I" have several does and three REALLY nice bucks...a monster 10 point, a large 8 point, and a medium size 8 point. I will take the 10 point next year with a crossbow. This patch is in Farragut, which is an extremely nice suburban area.

So you are going to be trespassing to do this?

Yeah, no. It is a private piece of property, undeveloped, that I have rights to hunt on. Nice try.

Sounds like a great place for nighttime automatic fire to me!

Requirements are no rapists or assholes...  No steel core 556 if you're wanting to shoot my steel targets, we have up to 50ish yards at our close range area, 200-600 nearby. Alcohol is fine after shooting.  Also I haven't asked the wife yet.

Yeah, it's that stanky bowater fog too.

Fog and IR lasers = sweet action....

I'm on board with your requirements.   Think of a time you might want to set something up.

I'll see what I can get worked out. Can't do July 4th-ish or middle to late July.

Would June be better?

It will be best to pick two dates and see what most people think they can attend then set it and forget it.
