Watch out and listen around for anyone selling these three items or talking about this. Hopefully they catch these pieces of shits!
 High powered weapons stolen from Greenbrier store A sniper rifle and two semi automatic pistols have been stolen from a store in Robertson County and police are now worried who might end up with the weapons. Early Thursday morning, two men busted out the front window of "Guns and Leather" in Greenbrier. Surveillance cameras captured the thieves at 1:30am breaking a glass case and grabbing three guns -- a 50 Caliber Sniper Rifle, a Russian made 9 MM and a 380 semi-automatic pistol. "It was a very quick smash and grab. I believe what really helped out was that the business has a very loud alarm and it scared them," said Sgt. Bryan Males, Greenbrier Police Department. Police want to get these guns before they end up in the wrong hands. "Every weapon is a concern of ours and we want to get them off the street. The main one is the 50 caliber sniper rifle with a scope on it," said Sgt. Males. U.S. military soldiers are currently using these type of weapons in Iraq. Last year, "Guns and Leather" was also the scene of a hold-up when a man posing as a customer tried to make off with several guns and was shot by the clerk. There was a witness who saw the two men near the gun shop right before the burglary. Police believe the thieves are in their twenties, driving a white late 80's or early 90's Buick or Oldsmobile with square tail lights. If you have any information, call Greenbrier police. |

That is his direct quote.  Why the hell hasn't Bob chimed in on this yet? Where are you at Bob? Did you lock him Hank?

Ahh, There you are.  Howdy.  Have you seen or heard any updates on this by chance?
So tell me how you really feel.  Trust me when I say I agree 100% with that statement.I hope the little bastards are caught with the weapons and attempt to play bad ass and resist with the local Sheriff/ATF in the process of their apprehension.

All I know is what you've posted here. $10 says they'll get caught. Someone, somewhere will brag about their "new" .50 & word will trickle down the grapevine & then hit the po-po. Between arfcom & the gun shows, word will be all over TN in a matter or days, IMO. They won't be able to sell the .50, probably not even shoot it w/o some heavy inquiries, IMO. Was it a Barrett that was stolen?????????? |

It wasn't specified as far as type. I just know some ones ass is toast real soon over this.
I should know by tomorrow what exactly the types of weapons that were stolen. If so, I will post it so folks can keep an eye out. You can bet they will try to sell, brag about or shoot the .50. |

I wonder why a gun like that was not placed in a safe afterhours? That is a lot of money to sit there with only a piece of glass protecting it.

Without going into specifics, I know most gun shops rarely place anything in a safe for afterhours storage. Between burglar alarms & bars on the windows, most gun shops are fairly well-protected. |

I have seen it both ways. But, it doesn't even appear in the original post that they even had bars. They probably will soon after his insurance company's loss control specialist visits.

No bars until now. I was by there today and it looks like they put something up. I don't by any means think they deserved what happened, but I am disapointed in Guns and Leather for not having the place and the weapons secured other than behind glass. It's just another thing that makes it tough on the rest of us when something like this happens. IE: "The main one is the 50 caliber sniper rifle with a scope on it," said Sgt. Males.
U.S. military soldiers are currently using these type of weapons in Iraq. " He fails to mention that the threat of the rifle in hand is the well qualified operator in Iraq. I understand the concern but do NOT appreciate his relationship to our guy's in Iraq. Hey, just think with ignorant statements we too could be just like California where they banned the 50. Just my 2 cents I'm personally indifferent to any blame that might be placed. I'm just simply disapointed. You can blame all day long, but the fact is that the thieves are out there and ramming is more difficult and leaves a ton more evidence. Imagine the car rolloing down the road with bars and glass hanging off of it. Like I was trying to say - these things have ripple affects and it is just my opinion (humble at best) that a secure store front would've helped at the very least. |

Sorry, I place the blame on the thieves, not the gun store, sir. Bars wouldn't have stopped them from ramming the front door open; that's been done in many burglaries (sp?) these days. |

Hey guys,
relax on Sgt Males. Bryan sometimes talks out his a$$. He tries to do a good job and usually does a compentent one. Remember that is a quote most likely taken out of context just to sensationalize the crime by a "reporter" not that they would do that of course. By the way I have known him since before he became the po-po and helped train him afterwards. |

It wasn't an attack on him personally as much as a generalization in terms of how situations like this is presented to the public eye.
And besides the only thing that was mentioned was a direct quote from the local liberal ass wipe paper. I reiterated the fact that he ( Sgt. Males) mentioned and emphasized ,on the news, the fact that "it made the weapon especially dangerous due to the fact that it had a scope on it". While I don't personally know him, I am sure he is a good guy (he is a police officer after all so he gets an A+ for that ) it just struck me as odd this comment was made by a police officer in front of a camera. The whole topic started was to bring light to the crime that happened, not him. BTW: Are you an officer down there or in the area? |

I didn't want to point any more out in the story than I did. I have already pointed out too much as it is. But yes, it would appear that the hands they were in the minute they were stolen are indeed in "The Wrong Hands". Tes,
No offense meant or taken on Sgt. Males. He used to ride with me when I was at RCSO. I can say that he used to be someone you could rely on to back you up even against the brass. I have heard through some of his troops that he has turned into a brown noser and got promoted over several more qualified candidates because of it. But having said that he still calls from time to time and I like him. I have moved out of the local police network and moved up to another level of "work" |

Wow, this is crazy.. I went to the range yesterday (TWRA) and asked what was the largest caliber that could be shot.. .500 on the pistol and no .50 cal on the rifle..
I hope that didn't single me out, I was just curious.. |

As far as I know you can shoot .50 at TWRA.

Yes, you can shoot anything short of a flamethrower at Hobson Pike. No full auto at Cheatham, supposedly.
