Trying to re-blue my entire slide on my handgun. Blotchy.. cleaned, glass beaded, rinsed with alcohol.
Wipe on the super (pooper) blue, wait a minute, rinse, wipe. steel wool, clean, wipe, apply more blue. I think I'll just stuff it in the dishwasher and clean it with blazing hot water, and just set it on the counter so it can flash rust.  or just grab the krylon gold.

Life experience is like that sometimes. I now have a nickel plated 1911 because of my attempt to cold blue a complete slide a few years ago. |

There are people in Portland who do provide this - forgot the guys name, but he used to work at Fisherman's Marine in Oregon City - saw him at his booth at the November Gun show. I've done three rifles and have been very happy with the result. LCW |

If you want a firearm hot blued in the Portland area and you can disassemble and assemble it yourself take it to AB metal finishing down right off Columbia Blvd. I've taken many firearms down there through the years to have it done. When I started going there it was $25 for a pistol and $35 for a rifle. You could have different matte finishes put on if you wanted as well. I have had need for any work done there for a while, but I was researching stuff for No Aim last summer. He was still there and accepting jobs. His prices have gone up slightly, but still a good deal. I think it was either $55 or $65 for pistol and $75 for rifle when I checked. Take only what you want blued. Do not take things like springs to have blued. That would be bad.
