I'm in central Ga and I build them. One thing about FAL building to consider is that it's considerably more involved than AR building. That said, with the right tools and knowledge it can easily accomplished. If your going to build more than two, invest in the tools and start boning up at the falfiles.com. If not have someone build it for you.

You can buy a nice DSA for a little more than you can build one for. I just finished my third build.

Funny thing, zzxx99 started building FALs with the tools (and knowledge) P806 lent him. Well, I guess he kept the knowledge part even after he returned the tools.

I would be interested in someone that can help me out with tools and such and maybe a little instruction on the tough spots. I have read up on the build and especially about setting the headspace. It's something I can pull off, I just don't want to buy another set of tools.

Sure it is. May I suggest the Gunplumber's guide and video, Gunplumber to get you started. There is also several north Georgia FAL guys, check out FALfiles for more info. Stimpy is probably one of the best in that area. |

Try Brett at www.HeavyArmsLLC.com I have gotten 3 FAL and 2 AK receivers and he is handling a supressor transfer. He does good work. Fair price.

One of their moderators, EMDII, shoots with us. Those guys build FAL's like we build AR's.

StimpsonJCat- If I decide to do the FAL, I'll certainly contact you. I would love to help. My goal would be to learn to do it myself. I'm trying to sell off a rifle. If I can get this done in the next week, I'll be looking more seriously at parts kits. I saw that DSA has american made para kits. That'd be a dream for a post 9/14 gun.

No need for american made Para kits, the real deal can be found for about $500-600.
Remember, you will still need to comply with 922, so you will need to have no more than 10 foreign parts on your FAL. Sell your gun, then we can talk details. |
