Thanks guys! I feel honored to have lived long enough to get over the 50 year old hump. I'm now called 'sir' and 'mister' and all sorts of other things that young folks called us senior citizens. Friggin AARP started sending me stuff also.
One of these days, maybe on a cold nasty day this winter I'm going to start writing up advice to give to grandson as he gets older. I'll share with you folks when I get done. I've been through a shit load in the past 50 years and there has to be something in there that young whipper snappers can learn from my mistakes.
The best pieces of advice I have to give so far for you young folks that read the forum is to LEARN HOW TO TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF AND YOUR FAMILY without help. Learn how to use common friggin sense in everything you do. If the weatherman tells you that there is a catagory 5 freeking hurricane coming your way, have enough sense to make an educated decision on how you are going to respond. Once you get behind the
it is hard to become the q-ball.
Most of life is not rocket science. If you WANT to do something find a WAY to do it NOW. Believe me, the older you get the more you regret putting off stuff for whatever excuse you want to use.
Also, get involved with some type of emergency response team be it Red Cross, CERT, DMAT, USAR, EMT, etc. these organizations will give you a heads up on shit that is getting ready to happen and will help your family take care of themselves if you have to deploy.
That's all for now, time for my ENSURE and mid-morning nap.
