Marlin 30A 30/30

Kicking myself in the ass for selling a Marlin 336 in 30/30. Good gun for brush country like down in licking. I use a 1917 that has been sporterized. A heavier rifle but then too the round is much faster and flatter shooting than the 30/30. But hey the 30/30 has taken it's share of deer. Like I said, kicking myself for selling that lever action rifle. It's just hat I reload and them 30/30 are rascals to reload after a few reloadings. But I now know more about annealing.

It is a great gun for brush that is for sure. My soon to be wife uses this gun when she goes with me.

My first deer was taken with a Marlin 30/30. I think the 30/30 is only behind the 30-06 for deer kill numbers with the .270 win running a close third.

Eta: I am proud to say I have taken multiple deer with each.

My first deer rifle was a Marlin 30AS, killed my first deer with it.  I sold it to my aunt several years later and she promised me she would never sell it without giving me first dibbs.  You guessed it she sold it and never let me know.  It still burns my ass!!!!!

Growing up in (weekends, summers etc, not livingin ) Southern Mo, I have seen my dad, uncles and friends of the family take more deer with Lever Action 30/30, than I think any other rifle/caliber...

Cant see the pic at work, but if you havent., a scout mount and pistol scope make a great fast handling gun.  I have a 30A too and tried traditional reciever mount scope and got scope eye nearly every time I shot it.  Does yours kick pretty hard because I would say mine is worse than my 30-06.

I have a Leupold VXII mounted with a Leupold base and rings.  The recoil in my opinion is quite manageable. I am a big guy though....plus the recoil is nothing compared to some of my lighter .308 bolt guns.

I'm thinking the rifle just doesnt fit me very well, but everyone should have at least one 30-30

What was that someone told me........ The 30/30 has killed , nope strike that.... wounded more deer than any other caliber of consequence in North America.

True or Not ?

Wishing all the deer hunters only the best this year... because you missed one last year and he bent the hell out of my bumper !
