Great news.  But in the last three days I've had like 6 things come up ALL for the 25th.  I will be in STL with the in-laws unless I can't get out of a 9 - 12 meeting at church.  I am ALL for helping out at the range, but I think I might be out for the 25th unless something else gives.

Great news though and I will make it up to the group if I have to miss the first work day.

This is gonna be great! I can't wait.
BTW, I still have that trailer if you think it would be useful.

Jeff -
I WILL BE THERE...

I can cut, drill, nail, carry, design, and pick my nose with the best of them...
You tell us what to do, and it'll get done...

This will be like a barn raising in the old days...
If we get enough people together we can get a hell of a lot done in one or two days...

Materials & supplies???
Or do you simply need laborers???

I am able to help out on the 25th.  What do you need as far as tools?  I will plan to bring basic "stuff" saws, screw guns etc.  If you want any special tools like air nailers, set up a layout, material or tool list.

I can give you my e-mail at your web site if you need any special tools?

Don't know what you envisioned for your range Jeff & John, but here's some ideas that you might implement...

1) Standard bench ranges - 25, 50, 100, with 300, and possibly 600 yd ranges...
By offering long ranges you'd be the only other place in the State besides Benchrest that would have such a facility - could generate business from people that want to experience long range shooting...

2) Covered shooting benches - for all weather activities...

3) Saw a COF (4) room house built out of stacked tires - the rubber would absorb the rounds, and make the shooting house safer...
Don't know how that would look, but it's one idea...
Saw another that had a double wall so the rounds would get trapped on the inside of the wall and not penetrate...

Here are sites that advertise in the industry forum
www.frontsight.com/
www.defensive-edge.net/
www.tigervalley.com/
Protac Global use to advertise, but I think they had server problems last I heard...

Check out the photo section under tigervalley...

Looking forward to help build a worldclass facility...

Try to make the range facing north, that way we will have the sun behind us.

The 600 yard range requires a lot of safety built into it.  I think they need to clear about 1 mile beyond the berm as a safety zone.  This takes a lot of land.

Besides Benchrest, we also have Bucksnort at Marshall MO that has 600 yd lanes.  Many high power matches are shot here regularly.

we could easily make the silhouette reactive targets like those that are used in the shoot houses.  I have seen one up close and they use a hanging target with a balloon blown up inside it to about the 8 inch diameter.  The balloon holds the cardboard up.  Since these hang once you shoot/pop the balloon the target falls from the hanger to the ground.  Anyone actually have on of these??  The good part abut this is that, unlike steel reactive poppers, you can shoot these at close range w/o splatter back to the shooter.

If you want to do the tire wall thing let me know, I think I can get a bunch of used tires free.
So are we definitely a go for the 25th? What about directions? What sort of supplies equipment should we bring?
Of course I realize this has to be planned out properly and that takes time so whenever you know what we need, no need to rush.
Once again thank you very much for doing this for us.

Jeff and John,

We really appreciate this.  You guys have already done a lot to make our shoots a success, but this tops it all.

Thanks!

I as well will more than likely be there.

I have since started cutting more steel at work every chance I get. I have a feeling y'all will be goin through it really quick with the frickin SAW!!! HAHAHAHAHA!!! I'll stay off the 1" plate for now, but I'll be bringing stuff up to 3/4" .

Jeff, steel is easy for me to move, so I have a billion ideas just waiting to materialize on the reactive targets.
Miranthis is right though....steel past 1/2" gives quite a spray of lead, so it probably isn't a good idea to have them in CQB COF's. But like I said, I want to build some swingers that nail into trees, hang from branchers, etc.  I as well can make little stands to have them on the ground..and so on.

Jeff if you have a digital camera could you post some pix of your space? I'de like to see what you have so I can better figure on safe and fun reactives.

But I guarantee I will be out there with any tool I can bring and a lot of sweat to spare!!

Man it's been a while since I've been on here.  Congrats on the range Jeff, sounds great, if you can use another hand, I'll try and make it out there, hopefully I'll have taken my monster buck by then, lol.  Got a question, same one I asked before we started out at the conservation range, will we be able to use tannerites at the new place?  I'm really itching to make some up again.  Never seem to have a good place and the right crowd to use them.

Dude...
I'm going to take a stab at this - from what I recall Jeff saying...

Tannerite is a go...
He basically said it's his property, and he can do pretty much anything he wants there...

Just image a COF with a tannerite target that you have to hit before you can proceed to the next shooting position...

Lights, camera, tannerite...
go...

Was wondering where you disappeared to...

Exxxxccceeellleeennntttt. (Folding hands like Mr. Burns)  Gonna try to make it out there to help.  Just have your dirt guy leave his equipment and I'll take over, lol.  (I'm in the excavation business), I would offer to do some with our equipment but it's all being used on the new basketball arena and other jobs at MU.  Later

jeff-

a stove is hardly a requirement--im still glad there will be a decent inside toilet!!!

i just cook what makes the boys happy--which is usually pretty easy

since the shoots are getting bigger, i just asked for a few dollars to cover costs and i do the work--if you want to give me raw meat, i will grill it

Guys, we are just starting from ground zero here, so don't expect too much on the range.  Right now, it is a couple of hillsides with trees on the sides and a car & washing machine in the middle.

Ummmm, scratch the washing machine and half the car.  LOL

Yeah, Gary...

The washing machine is no more...

The lid blew up high over the treetops, and two pieces came flying up toward us by the trucks...
(We did take the precaution to move further back before opening fire)...

One of Jeff's friends manned the SAW, Nascar3n8fan & I were on our AR15's...
The SAW got out 10 rounds in the time that I got off one - nascar didn't get one round off...

BOOM!!!

We also put a bottle in the pumpkin I brought and set in on the escort roof...
Needless to say the roof was cover in what looked like pumpkin pie mix, but there was also a basketball sized hole in the roof of the car...

Thanks, Nascar3n8fan - you made the day...
