If you REALLY want him to be a happy camper, bring him a bottle of Scotch! I didn't know what kind of Coffee beans he liked, or what kind of Smokes he preferred, so I brought him a bottle of Jameson... Be warned: You'll be there for a while, so go in only when you've got plenty of time to spare.
He liked it, but I then found out he prefers Glenlivet or Glenfiddich.
Next time he does some work on my 1911 I'll bring him a better bottle of scotch as a 'gift'... I understand the whole 'Lesson' on 1911s!!!
Also, I brought in my Glock last summer (to get the trigger pull imrpoved) and he talked my head off discussing its operation, how to tune the trigger better than just dropping in a new connector (but by tuning the connector as well to have a shorter trigger reset), how to fully detail strip it, WHY the glock MUST be fired with the ugly Gray/Gold grease on the rails for at least 300rds prior to cleaning (to get that 'glock reliability), how to change out the sights properly (and he let me watch him do it on another customer's glock)... I was in there 3-4 hours and it was like sitting in on an armoring course or something.
It was VERY educational! When I went in with my Old Colt CCO 1911 he not only verbally tore me a new one and smacked me upside the head for being an idiot
... He also informed me of all parts replacement intervals for my 1911 springs, etc. Was well worth my time even IF my old 1911 was practically FUBAR.
