I spent 3 years collecting parts to build a hunting rifle while I was in Germany only to be told no rifle hunting in this area. Where is the magic line between shotgun only and rifle for deer season. I'm in Mankato area and am told it's shotgun only around here. How far north do I need to go to hunt with a rifle?

Zones 1 and 2 are rifle zones...Right above the twin cities it is anything North of Hwy 95 in North Branch.....but as you go out toward Western Minnesota there are different boundaries and you will have to look at a map from a place that sells licenses because it does curve a little out west............or go on the MN DNR website and take a look at their maps................
