I grew up a few minutes from Champaign and this hits home. I still have family there and they sent me this. Was surprised to not see a thread on it.

I won't link here but there's a GoFundMe to show your support. You can Google his name and easily find it. The killer is being celebrated on local TV from what I understand.

The story I heard was Officer Oberheim went back to his car after speaking with those involved in the dispute. He was approached by the killer and shot in the head while in his cruiser.

After tall he local station (WCIA) glorified his killer, I have yet to turn to that channel.

RIP.  Sounds like he was a good guy taken far too soon.

I knew Chris's family, specifically his brothers and sister, pretty well. Very nice people all the way around.
