What are the chances of a AWB in Illinois  within the next few years? Do you think it will really happen?

And if DALEY gets indicted or is not reelected- Do our gun rights improve here in Illinois?

AWB in IL would be BAD!  I dont thionk we would let it fly with out a fight!

If Daley gets back in it is also bad!  He hates us all... except for his personal guards!

We need some new blood in office that is a little more gun friendly!

In my estimation, there is a little less than 50/50 chance of a "grandfathered" semi auto ban passing the legislature this session or this year. The chances of a full blown legal ban on the sale, possession, transfer and use of semi autos, at any rate, are fairly slim.

Any successor to Daley's mayoral seat, under any political circumstances, will be probably be Mexican or possibly a black. Any representative of this divisive group will also be, much like Daley, a liberal socialist, and will most decidedly be very hostile to private gun ownership.

Crime fighting in Chicago means suppressing and prohibiting the general citizenry's firearm rights and overall civil liberties. Going after the actual purpetrators of crime is tantamount to discriminating against your own voting constituancy, which is political suicide in modern day Chicago.

Never underestimate the pro criminal lobby. They exist in high places.

DrDeath, your guess is as good as ours.

In an ideal world there would be no chance at all, but just look at your average politician and that should answer your question.

We need to vote Blago out the office also!  That would be one less Daley puppet!

The vote in the house will be close. Amendment 7 may have appeased enough to get the few extra votes needed. I think the senate will be harder, though.

Keep in mind the first "gun show loophole" law last year. IIRC, it was pretty close in the house (don't remember if in passed or not), but was trounced soundly in the senate.

I don't see it happening this year. But Daley will never stop. He is an arrogant pig that will never quit.

can you imagine if every IL resident that owned/enjoyed "assault" (I call em defense) weapons showed up at organized shoots?   I call Three Gun Matches sporting purpose...

I regularily encorage new shooters to come to matches/help em join clubs

My girlfriend has more friends than ever interested in shooting, I give everyone an open invitation for lessons at the range...

I think more than ever IL residents know first hand stories about criminals in neighborhoods/crackhouses going unpunished...  It's going to be a hard sell, when the authorities don't evectively do their jobs...   But hey roadside checks at 8AM, they know how to do that-the new thing around here is setting up a "construction ahead" sign, stand in plainclothes behind sign w/radar and radio down the road (esp. in 30 MPH flanked by 45 MPH zones)

Good job at introducing new people to shooting!   I have been doing the same thing.  When I meet someone that is against guns, I talk them into coming to the range with me.  I over stress gun safety.  I teach them about each gun, and then I let them shoot.  I have never had anyone say they are anti-gun after I had a session with them.

Spead the word, and teach others.
