NEW TIME 930 AM WED!!!
————— UPDATE APR 12 2023--- RESCHEDULED TO WED APR 19 -- JUDICIARY COMMITTEE IF WE CAN GET 400 PEOPLE SIGNED UP TO TESTIFY AGAINST AGAIN, GOOD CHANCE THIS GOES AWAY FOREVER SIGNUP LINK https://www2.leg.state.co.us/CLICS/CLICS2023A/commsumm.nsf/signIn.xsp --- ORIGINAL POST --- Hey everyone, My friend who works at NSSF just called me and asked me to get the word out. He has been working in CO the last two weeks on defeating the upcoming gun bills in CO. HB 1230 is coming up in committee on Wed and he says we need bodies to show up in opposition. TL;DR summary: SHOW UP FOR THE COMMITTEE HEARING THIS WED 1:30PM TO OPPOSE HB1230 @ CAPITOL Info below: ---- The State Assembly in Colorado is further expanding laws that will negatively affect lawful firearms ownership in Colorado. HB 1230 is intended to stop all legal commerce in relation to Modern Sporting Rifles in Colorado. The sponsors of the bill claim it is targeted to firearms used in mass shootings. It isn't. Most firearms involved in "mass shootings" are semi automatic handguns - over 90%. As drafted, the bill does not include common handguns. It targets common semiautomatic long guns (Modern Sporting Rifles) and large frame semiautomatic pistols commonly built on rifle length actions. Of special concern to all current owners, you may not sell or transfer a firearm in possession, and a one word amendment in committee will prohibited existing ownership. While we believe this bill is clearly unconstitutional based on the recent Bruen decision from the Supreme Court, the legislature appears poised to pass such legislation regardless of the unconstitutionality. Please show up in committee. Colorado needs you. Sign up and show up Wednesday the 29th at 1:30. https://leg.colorado.gov/content/judiciary-7 Please call the members of the Judicial committee and ask them to stop this bill. If they don't hear from you, they won't. Here's their contact: https://leg.colorado.gov/committees/judiciary/2023-regular-session-0 ---- |

Here is a sample letter. If you choose to send something, you should change it up, but here are some good points:
------------------ Hello, My family and I have lived in CO for ***** years and I am contacting you to voice my strong opposition to HB 1230, the "Assault Weapons Ban." This is based on three main arguments: "False Justification"-- The prima facie justification for HB1230 is to reduce "mass shooting"-- however, the fact is that regular semi-automatic handguns are used in "mass shooting" and crime in general at a rate about 20x that of semi-automatic rifles. "Impact to Law-Abiding citizens and Common-Use"-- HB1230 will outlaw many classes of popular firearms that regular law-abiding citizens use for hunting, sport, competition, and recreational shooting, not to mention legitimate, legal self-defense. "Legally Pointless, Inevitable Strike-Down, and Cost"-- Furthermore, with the "BRUEN" US Supreme Court precedent set last summer, a law like HB1230 is certain to be struck down. In the meantime, it will improperly burden law-abiding citizens and cost the State of Colorado funds in pointless court fights, that they will lose at the USSC. BRUEN info here: https://www.law.cornell.edu/supremecourt/text/20-843 Please drop HB1230. Sincerely, ** **** **, ****** |

Not a fan of Denver but this seems too important to miss.
Safe to assume that there will be metal detectors upon entry? No knives, etc., correct? Just trying to plan accordingly. Anyone else planning to attend? |
|
Just found out about it. I will try and attend. I always said that I would make the effort to show up in person and stand up for my rights. In the past, I have always had conflicts and could not make it. Never make it easy for them to take your rights away. They want you to be slaves.

Just got this in text———
CO assault weapons ban hearing postponed. Apparently 400 people were showing up testify in opposition. Dem leadership pulled it for now. Expect to see them try and sneak it an again - like they did this time. Good job everyone. |

when Schutz signs those, which of course he will, will they go into effect immediately or later?

They're all bad, but this one is concerning;
"Senate Bill 170 adds district attorneys; teachers, school counselors and college faculty; and, health care providers, including mental health professionals, to the group of people who can apply for an extreme risk protection order. Its most significant amendments requires parties in a petition to keep confidential health care information, when it is used to seek a petition, and, to require petitions not filed by family or household member to be filed in the county where the person deemed at risk resides." I wouldn't trust most of the people in that group with my grocery list, but the state wants to give them the power to revoke my rights? |

RFL's are dead they just don't know it yet--

Ironically, April 19 is when the Red Coats were attempting confiscation.

They will absolutely do that to minimize attendance, so plan to be flexible. |

Between an AWB and 80% ban, Colorado is poised to make thousands of law abiding citizens who never harmed anyone into outlaws with the stroke of a pen.
I don't think the AWB will pass (this time) but I bet it does in the next legislative session. I do think there's a good chance the 80% ban will be rammed through in record time. It clearly violates Colorado's constitution which explicitly prohibits gun registration, but that don't mean shit without a judge willing to strike it down. And it's got Rino support from fake conservative pieces of shit like Mike Coffman (aka Colorado McCain). The CSOC (county sheriffis of Colorado) who in the past stood with the people against previous infringements are awful quiet on the matter these days. Good luck fellas and ladies in Calirado. It was a good place once. |

Quoted: Yup. Expect further fuckery and have your 1-2 min speech ready. View Quote I'm traveling myself but I'd be there. Did send a letter. They knocked put possession which was in the original bill..they also dropped the felony part. A lot of legal analysts still say it won't make it the way its written. |

Epps keeps saying "it's about the guns" over and over, but then says it's about race... :/
Now she is basically saying that her ultimate goal is not just to ban sales of assault weapons but she wants to ban possession outright. And crying and babbling on... Now sounds like she is worried that the bill won't pass so now she may want to submit an amendment to limit the bill to ban just bumpstocks and whatever?? |

Listening.
Feels, feels, authoritarianism, and more feels and authoritarianism. |

What's going to happen when some PoS uses a bolt action 7 mm Mag and the nannies'find out that the 5.56 pales in comparison? Rhetorical question.

The FPC guy is great and saying what I would say.
BTW, happy Lexington and Concord Day. |

Authoritarian mentioned separation of church and state, and that rights are given by government. Ayn Rand would set her straight.
WOW |
|
|
Don't remember. I was listening to chunks while working and getting interrupted.
ETA - This was in reference to rights being "God-given." This phrase is interchangeable with "inherent" as far as we heathens are concerned because we all have the ability to make (presumably) rational decisions and act on them. That ability exists regardless if it came from a deity or evolved, and is the moral and rational basis for the individual having the right to their own life and derivative "rights" such as the right to defend one's own life and the right to the fruits of one's own labor (like that AR you bought ). |
