Mind the 180.
Finger out of the trigger gaurd while moving. Don't shoot the floors, walls or ceiling. No handling of firearms behind the line and only the shooter is to handle firearms. Take it slow if you are new. Help tape targets and break down the setup. No AP ammo, tracers or ammo above 308 in power. (Debatable, ask range staff) Have fun and learn something! |

I'd like to shoot this more but I'm taking a break until all this panic shit dies down.
Last few times I've been in they had .223/ 5.56 for decent prices.
Only way to stop the panic, is to stop panicking, go out, and shoot. |
How has the participation been?
I stopped going when we only started getting 1.5 runs in a night |
Can't wait to get back to America where I can shoot a gun instead of just carrying one around for several hours at a time. This 'panic' better be over by July!

Hi all,
Kinda new here but I have been following the old thread have been meaning to head out to FNRL since I moved to Washington. I have poked in and out of west coast a couple of times. Has there been good turn out since the big scare? |

Has there been good turn out since the big scare? Participation has been steady, I haven't seen a drop off at all. It's still the most attended of the action shooting nights, IDPA, IPSC, etc. I'd estimate in the ~25 ahooters per night range. 2 runs for each shooter still standard. More help taping speeds up the reset which speeds up the entire process. |

I think once I get back working next month I'll have to start going again. Use to go a couple years go. Definitely a fun time!

Gotta take a break from working on home projects.
I'm in this week. |

Do they want you to be a member to do the two gun stuff? No $15 to play |

In tonight. It's been about 4 months since I've been able to go.

Judging by participation, you'd never know there was an ammo panic on.
Lot's of 7.62x51 shooters last night. |

I'd really like to try it some time, but it's a little far for me to drive from the dry side.
Are you guys using the open bay or the new Bay 4 at the Insights side of the building?
I used to drive from Tacoma all the time, but my schedule is getting off after 6PM on Fridays... so it will be a deliberate decision if I go at all!

Sweet! I used to shoot many practical rifle courses in Oregon....it will be good to meet some new folks.
I'll be out the first Friday of June, I'll probably have a TAN SR-15 rifle. |

Who do they consider an "experienced shooter"
Do they need proof of class certifications? |
We can tell fairly quickly.
If you shoot the table instead of the target - that's a dead give away. In general, you should be competent in manipulating your rifle safely. You are running around, shooting rapidly, changing magazines and transitioning to a side arm. Your first several times, don't try to beat the clock. Run through smoothly and safely. Biggest things are no handling of firearms behind the line, only the shooter may load or handle the rifles, side arms on those waiting in the back are cold and in holsters. Muzzle and trigger finger discipline. The ROs will cover the safety rules before we start. No pressure, just be safe first and foremost. |
I'm going to try to make it this Friday. Then will probably miss a few weeks then try to come more regularly.
In for next Friday with a new rifle and sight....and handloads....lots of handloads!
That was a lot of fun and I realized I suck, I had a few embarrassing moments, but damn it was fun
I'll be there again this Friday, unless something comes up. |

If you ever go on Ballistics by the inch, for standard ball, the Muzzle velocity peaks at around 14-15" IIRC, and then actually DROPS after that. With the 18" or so barrel I believe that the gas pressure is significantly dropping before the bullet even exits the muzzle (On BBTI, an 18" barrel has about the same MV at a 5-6" barrel!) In effect self suppressing.
