Traveling from Virginia Beach to Philadelphia via eastern shore. What are the laws/hurdles with brining a pistol. Or anything else if that's prohibited.

Read up on the Firearm Owner's Protection Act of 1986 - seriously, either spend a few hours reading up on material from GOA / NRA-ILA, or consider a consultation with a **firearm** attorney.  Legally, if you have the handgun cased and unloaded you can drive from DC through Maryland across Delaware and wind up in Philadelphia.  Note that you won't be carrying in Philadelphia proper [city limits, not county], openly or concealed, without a concealed license that PA honors.
