HOME FIREARM SAFETY
An NRA Approved Educational Program

Saturday, January 5, 2008 2-6PM

A non shooting course oriented to keeping firearms, and your home, safe from predators and inquisitive minds

What will you learn in this NRA  course?

Using the NRA training method of Total Participant Involvement, this course will provide hands on learning opportunities in the following areas:
•   Safe firearm handling
•   Identifying and Unloading different firearms
•   Types of ammunition and its function
•   How to select, clean and store a firearm
•   Cleaning and Storage of Firearms

THIS IS A GREAT COURSE to bring your 'lukewarm' family members to, so that they can handle firearms in a "safe" environment, and become more comfortable in rendering a variety of firearms safe!

Objectives of this course

Know the primary causes of gun related accidents  
Know the Three Fundemental safe gun handling rules
Be familiar with other safety rules for using or storing a gun
Know your responsibilities for teaching gun safety to children
Be aware that firearm accidents have been on the decline
Identify the different types of handguns and know their parts
Unload  various types of handguns
Indentify the different types of rifles and know their parts
Unload various types of rifles
Identify different types of shtguns
Unload various types of shotguns
Be familiar with muzzleloading firearms
Know the different types of rifle cartridges, handgun cartridges, and shotgun shells  
Know the firing sequencec of modern ammunition
Know how to clean firearms properly
Know how to store firearms and  ammunition properly
