Yeah it's part of the corrections program. I even got offered a spot to be something called blazer or something like that at the state capitol building. I can't recall the name of it but apparently you wear khakies and a blue jacket and work for a senator for a full season of senate. The pay and work were shit though so I said hells to the no. From what I understood you do get to see some cool behind the scenes type of stuff at the senate but for the most part you are running around and getting people coffee and filing paperwork. I'm not a man servant.

Dont do pull ups on the inmates equipment.

Back in the day at AZ DOC academy, during the course we obviously went to several prisons to see things "in real life".

Well, one cadet took it upon himself to do a pull up in the yard in front of about 100 inmates.  Yeah, the instructors were not too happy about that.

I forget now if he even passed the academy.

When I get back on my feet from this blown knee, I'll get you through 4th Ave. There is a chance you may see some high profile people. Not as fun as say LBJ/P3, but its up there! Have fun, no guns, knives, weapons of mass destruction etc.

AHHHH it was amazing! I got to go to Tent City and the Estrella Jail they are connected to each other. Tent city is great and Joe Arpaio is a badass and I will always vote for him. That facility was run like freakin clockwork and the detention officers were extreme professionals of the highest caliber. I respect them for what they do WOW talk about a hostile work environment!

I think I got 3 different marriage proposals from female inmates hahahaha I even got to do a Q and A in a pre-trial unit with a bunch of female inmates. I got to walk right through tent city too with only 2 Detention Officers as escorts one was a female. To say we were outnumbered is an understatement. A guy from my .mil unit is a DO there as well for his full time job I spotted him and got to say hi.

I got to walk around the maximum security unit, the inmates there were behind plexiglass so I I wasn't walking among them like when I was in the jail and Tent City. It was like looking at animals at the zoo and just looking at them you could tell they were people you did not want out on the streets.

Elizabeth Johnson was there if you guys aren't familiar with who she is she is baby Gabrielle's mom. You can google "baby gabrielle" if you want to learn more about it.

During my Q and A with a pre-trial inmate I was in a room and there was about 100 female inmates all in front of me restricted to their bunks while the tour walked through and I had to stay behind a line of tape on the ground but the closest inmate to me was only a few feet away. Well at one point my professor yells across the room "Who here has a college degree?" So 4 or 5 inmates raise there hand and he points out one of them and asks her what her degree is in and she says she is an acting paralegal under investigation for obstruction a prosecution and she has a weapons charge pending.

So then I yell across the room "How do you have a weapons charge in Arizona?" she says "well when the cops came to arrest me they found like 15 guns in my house" so I say back "There s nothing illegal about that I have more guns then that in my car right now." so she says "These were the illegal kind...." and I left it at that because I think she was just blatantly lying to impress the other room mates.

So as soon as we leave that bay and they close the door one of the DO's hangs back and taps me on the shoulder and says "Yeah, little miss paralegal in there doesn't have a degree or a weapons charge she was brought in on prostitution" hahahahaha.

One of the guys in my tour was about 5,6 maybe 160 pounds wears abecrombie with gel in his hair, etc. Pretty much a real pretty boy and kept trying to make jokes the whole tour and at one point he makes some joke about the living conditions of the inmates to one of the DO's and finishes it with "I am never going to jail or prison" so everyone is dead quiet waiting for the DO's response so she looks him up and down you know starts at his feet and finishes at his head and says "You would never make it" in a serious tone of voice and I lost it and started openly laughing at him hahahaha.

What a great tour! They should have tent cities in every state it is an amazing program.

I got to do a tour of tent city and Madison Street jail a few years ago. Intense craziness was much higher at Madison.  Tent city was kind of dull, except the female side was a little bit amusing.

As we were walking in to the jail a lady with a neck device of some type on was being wheeled out on a gurney.

Sounds like you had a hoot.

I took AJS101 when I went to GCC, and Sheriff Joe spoke to our class for an hour, neat guy.

Did a rotation at ASPC Lewis for 5 weeks. There's a dump/landfill a few miles away. I heard two guys hid in the garbage truck and were found wandering away from the dump a few years back. Now the garbage trucks have to compress the trash twice while they're in the sally port before they leave.

Prison is a place that no one should ever go unless you get to leave every day.

No it was some sort of support device, as in I think she had just sustained a neck injury.

MCSO subcontracts the medial out to a company (Correctional Health Services) and they will send an inmate out for just about anything to cover their butts. A lot of "falls" happen in the showers too.
