BLM Needs Your Participation as it Prepares
Recreation Plan for Table Mesa Area!
Please Attend a Public Meeting and Speak-Up for Target Shooting!


As we have reported, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is preparing a Recreation Activity Plan/Travel Management Plan for the Table Mesa area, north of Phoenix.  The BLM wants to know what types of recreation and road access are important to people who recreate in this popular area.  

It is vital that target shooters and hunters participate in this process to ensure that other recreation interests don't try to force shooters off these public lands. There is little doubt that non-shooters and anti-gun forces will be active in this public input process.  BLM will be holding two public meetings as the first step in developing the recreation plan.  Please attend one of the meetings.

We would like to thank those NRA members who answered the call to attend a BLM-hosted clean-up event on Saturday, November 8 in the Table Mesa area.  We, along with BLM, appreciate your contribution to ensure that public lands remain clean and open for use.  NRA encourages any of the volunteers who worked on November 8 to share their thoughts with BLM as to how the area can be kept clean and how to discourage littering and illegal dumping.

I attended the meeting in Anthem this evening.  The most disturbing thing I heard was that the BLM is going to stop allowing off-road motorized game retrieval.  This is going to effect many disabled and geriatric hunters that will not be able to continue hunting because of this new regulation.
This is another example of the slippery slope of regulation.  If the BLM is allowed to do this on BLM land it won't be long before the state and national forests adopt the same regulation.
There was a representative from the AZ game and fish department there - when asked about why this regulation is being proposed he said he didn't have a clue cause he wasn't involved in the decision process - now isn't that some great representing done there!
Speak out or sit quitely and allow this to happen.  My governmental representatives will be hearing from me.
