Man I thought you were going to have something cool on WWII, I watched the Band of Brothers last night when they were in the Battle of the Bulge.

Now on your little wager, I need to gain weight, so I'm out.

I was thinking that maybe a small bet with some of you AZ folks would be the motivation I need to get off my ever widening ass...this coming Friday (9/16/05), we all weigh in at Cav Arms and put $20.00 in the kitty. Whoever looses (sic) the most weight by 11/23/05 gets the money (any ties split the pot).

So who's in?

... I'm there bro

I'm in, too!

I have to work Friday, I can swing by the shop after work say around 6:40pm for the weigh in if that's cool?

If you gain more weight than anyone else loses, then you win.  J/K

You know that talking about gaining weight to a bunch of fat big-boned boys who need to lose weight could piss them off. One of us might sit on you during recess out on the playground.

How about another weigh in on New Years for you yo-yos?

Actually, that would make it unfair to the really heavy guys.  Specifically, if two guys lost the same amount of weight, the one who initially "weighed less" would have lost a greater percentage of their overall weight.

Take the following example:

Amount of weight lost:  10 pounds
Subject A's initial weight:  240lbs
Subject B's initial weight:  290lbs

Based on percentages of initial weigh-in, Subject A lost a little over 4%.  Subject B, on the other hand, only lost 3.4%.

We should have had this contest back in february when I had a nice night of throwing up 26 times in 6 hours before having surgeons remove one of my internal organs and not eating for 3 days, losing a total of 13 pounds in 3 days. I started at 120. It was not healthy.

Damn that sounds like it sucked.  I once had some "minor" surgery in my mouth, the healing process didn’t go as planned.  I didn’t have a single drink for 5 days, or one bite of food for 7.  My tongue was so swollen I couldn’t get a straw in, but when I tried it just scraped a bunch of green shit that was growing on it off.  Got to go to the hospital dehydrated of course, they couldn’t get a vein, but kept on chasing them and finally got one the fourth time .

I was 15 at the time and when it started I was about 110lbs, by the end I was around 92lbs....

Its no fun when you cant stop drooling

I disagree... Look at it this way.  Subject B could, potentially, lose about 30 pounds.  Now compare that to someone who's slightly overweight, but quite frankly, only has about 20 pounds to lose.  They can't be competitive.

I think they should either do it as proportion of weight lost, or 'do both'.  Hey, it's the ARFCOM way...

So, what you're saying is that the ARFCOM way is to argue about what's fair until the contest is over, then we'll call it off?

So where are we at with this thing? I'm up for the weigh in on Friday night. I can be there around 6:40 pm. Who else is going to be there? Are we setting new definite dates or going with the initial ones? I have been tossing around the idea of a serious diet for the last few months and this is a good way to get some motivation.

Shawn you might want to make some rules or guidelines like whether or not you can use suppliments or dietary pills. Puts an unfair advantage is one person takes something and no one else does. Now theres no way to tell if someone takes something so it would kind of have to be honor system. Just a suggestion.

If you ain't cheatin you ain't tryin.
