Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - Desert shooting spots?

My cousin is coming in for a week, and I want to take him AR shooting.  Can you guys tell me any good plinking spots out in the desert?  I live in Gilbert, so I prefer something on the east side of town.  We are going to shoot cans, bowling pins, etc.  Any help would be appreciated.

You might want to IM mjrowley about directions to Arizonistan. Pretty decent place to shoot.

Otherwise, shit, just pick a place in the middle of nowhere (we have a lot of that here in AZ) with a good backstop (meaning: good sized hill) and shoot to your heart's content.

Looks like there's plenty of forest roads out US 60 between AJ and Superior.
