You could replace the mag release with a steel block bolted in place. That would make the 10 round mag non-detachable.

Just leave the pistol grip off and you can use your detachable preban 30 rounders.

Pinning an AK mag would make it a PITA to reload. Why not remove the pistol grip? I'm either going to do that, or just remove the gas system to make it not semiautomatic. That way I can still use the detachable mags. |

I don't have firsthand experience but it seems like it would be difficult to fire, like an AR without the pistol grip. Anyone done this before? |

I haven't built my AK off list receivers up yet but I do have a pre ban registered AK and it seems pretty easy to use it with your hand "M1A" style as long as you have a relatively large hand. In fact, it's much better suited to not have pistol grip than the AR. With my AR builds, I'm going to have to use cut down grips to be able to shoot it well. |

or do not install the gas piston and making it a bolt action therefore you may have detachable mags and pistol grip...just a thought
