i know that in arizona (maybe other states too?) private party transfers of handguns are restricted to people 18+, and FFL sales 21+.

Is this so in california too?

I believe CA is 21 and older to do the transfer.

Handgun transfers can be conducted via Operation of Law for 18 to 20 year olds ONLY if the transfer is from:
- parent to child
- grand parent to child
- spouse (21+ or otherwise legally in possession with ownership of handgun) to spouse (18 to 20)
- legal guardian to child.

No FTF PPT between original owner and an 18-20yr old buyer if they do not fall into the above categories.  No sibling transfers either.
