You can’t get any honest news or hear anything positive about Ron D. on the news , so I’m asking how people around you are taking the battle between him and the schools.       Yahoo tied to make look like he is killing kids.

Most of the people I know/work with think he’s one of (if not the only) politician standing up for the RIGHTS OF THE PEOPLE to chose their destiny, as opposed to the media that stands for the RIGHTS OF GOVERNMENT to subjugate the people.

I'm in a red county that sits beside a very blue county.  It is honestly a very mixed bag at my kid's school.  My philosophy is Libertarian but typically vote Republican, and am also a scientist.  I was in line to get vaccinated ASAP, I already have Asperger's and could use faster internet so as soon as my chip's batteries are low I'm getting a booster.

To be honest, it is hard to get a good answer due to the complications of the issue.  As soon as this issue became emotional and political everyone lost their minds, quit thinking, and starting pontificating and spreading half truths.

Some, of which I am a part, feel the ban on mask mandates is as much of an overreach as would be a government requirement to wear them.

Some feel it is stupid, because it doesn't let local areas react to changes in case load, hospital status, or infection rates/positivity rates.

Some feel it is stupid, because wearing a mask is a sign of government overreach in the first place.  (just like fire codes and seat belt laws)

Meanwhile you have me, a scientist that works in a group with some epidemiologists, that just shake our heads and can't understand how and why people are so up in arms about this issue.  Personally I just see wearing a mask during an epidemic common sense and socially responsible.  So I do, and will, as will my kid at school, regardless of what the government says.

Personally the libtards in this state drive me nuts. I live in Alachua, one of the worst FL counties. Our great governor makes a smart choice and puts the health of the child the parents responsibility, which makes perfect sense. These liberal idiots are suing him saying he over reached his authority, by literally taking the authority away from the government. It is like they put stupid pills in the public water around here. Thank God I have well water. I really hope Springs County actually becomes a real thing.

try reading the article below without rolling your eyes.

I think the masks are a farce feel good measure.

I and many of my peers really like Desantis, he stands for us people IMO. The liberals/sjws and etc are going to bury him unfortunately. I hope I'm wrong.

Amen to that. Studies show that cloth masks do not prevent virus transmission.

It was all over the news that by the end of the first day of school, more than 18% of the kids tested positive.

Its my understanding, it takes at least a day or so for tests to show positive so where did these numbers come from???

Since the general public seems to be following whats on the news this should give you a general idea.

The part about common sense: can you elaborate? Since you are a scientist you obviously point to empirical evidence of a net benefit to this type of "medical" intervention, correct?

The only thing consistently being show by any sort of "study" is that these face coverings have had a statistically insignificant effect on the spread of illness. Your blue states have mandated all sorts of "countermeasures" which had and still have little actual data in support of their success

When people say "common sense" I think back to all the times people have said that "common sense gun control" works, and in much the same way, there are no data points that definitively back these claims. Generally, the data points in the opposite direction.

I think it's also genuinely dishonest to try to frame this issue in Florida as anything other than what it actually is: a parental rights and personal choice issue. We don't suspend our rights because we are scared.... Even though that seems to be the new norm today.

I would also encourage you and anyone else to research the origins of the term "social responsibility".... You might be more than a little surprised as to where that originated.

Time will bring truth.
The question is, which “truth”.

If DeSantis manages to hold the line, we’ll have the middle ground as well, in the long run. There’s always going to be a disproportionately visible opposition when we’re dealing with loud mouthed authoritarians online and in MSM.

Ron would do well to build a little suspense with a official press conference, advertised a few days ahead, regarding FL’s new lockdown plan. Chum the water, so to speak.

Then throatpunch ‘em with a “FL is kicking ass” speech.

No shit, is there anyone alive that thinks young kids are going to wear a mask all day, and not mess with it.  That it will fit perfectly, and not become contaminated with God knows what kind of bacteria and viruses.

the media's 24/7/365 panic porn campaign is paying off.  I personally like DeSantis' stand against mandatory masks.  Evidently he did not make out so well in Leon County Court today, with a lefty judge ruling against him.
I don't/won't wear a mask.  Never have, never will

To add, i work at Ft Walton medical center,  the only level 2 trauma center in the panhandle/Northern florida.... we do have one floor of total covid patients doubled up in rooms. HOWEVER anyone that comes in with covid and a o2 level sub 95% gets admitted, also of note is all HCA hospitals (almost all hospitals from Tennessee down) are FOR profit... meaning our icus are ALWAYS 100% filled because thats a huge paycheck to the corp.... covid is bad for the 60 year old+ group and those fat or with other comorbidities, but anyone healthy under 50 is statistically not in danger...

For an interesting read go to Front line Covid-19 critical care website.  A lot of doctors from outside the US are in there.  Most of it is above my head but my nursey wife understands it and has become very knowledgeable about this crap.

What are they doing for treatments there?

Fiancee got diagnosed, I got exposed, both have one comorbidity (I win, with three - overweight, asthma, and hypertension) and we went to one of the state-run Regen-COV treatment sites near the house the next day. Worst symptom she had was shortness of breath to the tune of not being able to clean the bathroom counters & toilet after she took a shower and got cleaned up, without sitting down on the bed to catch her breath. Two days later she was outside walking the dog around the house and jumping around with him.

She said she felt like she was going to die pre-antibody treatment, but she's never had much in the way of experiences like I did having asthma (try running 1-2 miles, then a half mile obstacle course as a fat guy and then having an asthma attack at the far end of the obstacle course field, 400 yards from your inhaler, and having to walk back with no help ), so I don't know if she was being dramatic or not... but that shit cleared us both right up as far as symptoms.

We've had the lingering here or there diarrhea, nausea, she threw up once, and slight headaches... but by and large, nothing like what we were assured was coming down the pike by the people who sit there and blast DeSantis & the rest of Florida's officials for setting those treatment centers up.

It's been 18 months if there was any real science in studies to prove masks worked they would have been done and the News would have been touting them day in and day out. They have done them and then results weren't what they wanted so they became Backpage news. The masks do not work the studies that were done even concluded that the n95 masks were at or below 50% effective in containing virus particles. Let alone the dirty underwear that people wear over their faces.

This is not true. This is were so many people get it wrong including you. Mask mandates mean you MUST wear a mask or else from the government. Banning mask mandates does not stop individual people from choosing on there own to wear one. It prevents the government from mandating ALL to wear one, regardless of there choice. Apples and Oranges.

I think DeSantis would do well to kick off a series of Trump style rallies.  The People need to see that what’s in the news does not reflect what is real.
It would do well for the crowds to see, IRL, that we have numbers, we have power, we can make a show of force. It would do the Governor well to see this as well.

The People need a ass kicker to do some Braveheart shit out in the open.

He also needs to get ahead of the weed issue before it becomes a issue. I can guaran-damn-tee that his re-election challenger will be beating the drum for the weedies, and that single issue is enough to cause major problems for winning.
Maybe not taking action right away, but hold back until the D primary is over, wait for them to spool up the campaign, then drop a pre-fabbed weed pass right through legislation. This would be akin to boarding their vessel, cutting their sails, and pissing in their powder keg, with no time to recover.

I had to make my own antibodies lol.
Took 26 days in the covid ward to do it.

What they did to me was.
Hi flow, then dropped to x% till down to 1 liter/hour.
Med wise ( I'll do my best here).
Iv fluids to hydrate
Remdisivir(sp)
3 lbs of vitamins D B,thiamine,C etc
Singular
Strong antacid
Baby aspirin at one point
Blood thinners...injected twice a day in my belly ( lovenox(sp)
Insulin- my glucose was all over see below.
Steroids started with a D...dex?( for short)
Probotic flora( something).
Tylenol ( had a bad muscle/back ache for a few days)
Antiviral for the fact I tested for hpv etc ( had chicken packs as kid)
IV antibiotics.
Name all of them cause  I got sepsis around week 2.5
And the final awesomeness was gurgling and swallowing that nasty puss yellow zisistan shit because  I got thrush
Then....I had an afib ....so onto cadiviral ( sp) and Cardizem...one for a 12/24 iv . Then on another blood thinner.
Oh and lasick ( sp) to piss...because instead of fluid in my lungs it was in small pockets outside of it.
After the afib I asked about electrolyte count..as I literally was filling my 3 piss bottles every few hours and I was drinking water like I normally do ( gallon or so a day).
So they test...say they are ok. But got a iv of that shit mysteriously...lol.
Then zanax ....cause I got bad anxiety towards the very end ...being confined alone I guess isn't good for me lol.
And your basic inhaler...only used it twice.

That's just me....nurses said each person's different but that's thier cocktail I got.

Great weight loss program though lolol.

Eta:
Wife had allergies for a few weeks. Kid got pneumonia for 7 plus days...and I got the ride.
