Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - Remington 541-S Problem

I notice a dangerous problem this weekend with my 541-S.  When I release the bolt and engage it, sometimes it will not cock, sometimes it will.  If I pull the bolt back, put the safety on and then push the bolt forward, it will cock.  Good, right, no!  I take it off the safety and it automatically fires.  Does anyone have an idea of what is going on or how I can research it?  I am in Jacksonville.
