I'm calling BS. There is a list as long as my third leg of stuff HK would bring into the US before importing non-neutered full-size MP5s out of the blue.

The German Federal Police approval is public, you can easily find it if you know how to search their website. The link redirects to the homepage so I can't post it.
That being said it took several years from this point for the SP5K to arrive. So a Christmas turnaround is hard for me to believe. |

It appears that this is a real thing according to some people in the know over at HKPRO.com. Apparently there has been a Christmas email sent to HK dealers stating an SP5 is indeed coming. Allegedly this has been confirmed and it wasn’t a typo. Holy Crap I hope this is legit!

Reading the thread on HKPRO, there was speculation the German .gov approved the sale of these (when they previously had not) because the platform is getting old and falling out of favor with government purchasers/users. Kind of a Curio and Relic situation.
Which is totally fine with me. |

I suspect there will be way more demand than supply at first as people using sears in clones snap these up. $4k street price seems like reality.

The real question is should I FO and get the POF 5K/PTR 9KT or wait for for a real HK MP5? I’m going to spend roughly $2500-3000 anyway form 1’ing it and a good optic.

It's happening. SP5 and re-released SP5K with threaded barrels and paddle mag release in pistol format for each model. No word on pricing or timing, but word is slowly making its way out.

A full size HK would be very tempting, depending on price. But only if it doesn't have a bunch of stupid features needing to be converted, like the current SP5K.
It would be a tough call for me, hard to say if it would be worth the extra $1k it would probably be compared to a PTR or Zenith. |

I am glad HK is finally getting its shit together. I already have a MKE RZS-5 that I have SBR'ed. That being said I will definitely pick up the SP5. These new HK are the updated F model so I can basically show in my collection the evolution of the platform like I have with the M16a1 and A2 variants. I am most pleased that the newer SP5K will come in the PDW configuration, that will save alot of money and hassle.
