Don't know the dates but the "bush" model preceded the current "scout" model, afaik the only difference is the barrel-mounted forward optic mount.

I have a Bush serial shows it to be 1992, trigger not as nice as my National Match but the balance is very nice on it. Only put 2 mags thru it to
sight in, been keeping it as an investment. I actually prefer the 22" barrel for some reason, maybe not as loud when shooting.

The M1A "Bush" models were offered as various factory catalog models from 1981 to 1999 with a brief revival in 2002 and 2003.  Some models had folding stocks and the rest had fixed stocks.  The M1A Bush model chief characteristics were an 18 " barrel and a flash suppressor.  These models were marketed as M1A-A1 Assault, M1A-A1, M1A-A1 Bush, and M1A Bush.  Here's a list of the known factory models for the M1A Bush series:

AA9101M1A-A1 / M1A-A1 Bush with USGI stock

As I recall, the "Bush Rifle" was introduced by Springfield in 1981. I think they called it the M1A-A1 back then . I got mine in 1983 and it came as a package with a folding stock, nylon case, cleaning kit and a couple of extra mags. I traded off the folding stock for a standard military issue M-14 stock as I didn't like the feel of the folding stock at all. I eventually swapped the wood stock out for a synthetic one with another member here on the board.

I was just given a SA Gen 3 scope mount for mine, so I am going to see how that works out (They don't have a good rep). I am also thinking about adding an adapter so I can mount a Harris bipod.
