I've been considering what optic to put on my M-14 build and I've picked the new Nightforce 1-4 variable. Before, the Aimpoint was the leader for this rifle (the EOTech sits too high). I plan on using it for closer ranges, but the ability to use the power of the cartidge for longer shots made me look for a magnification option. The Aimpoint plus 3X Magnifier seemed to fit the bill, but it has no BDC ability. The Nightforce offers a true unity setting with an incredible FOV for close-in shooting (95"@100M), plus 4X when you need it. Also, the FC-2 reticle gives it a quick ranging ability, with of course turret knob when you have time. However, no one seems to know when these scopes will be available.
