I would watch the For Sale Forum at the m-14forum.com. It seems a number of 1st time M14/M1A buyers bought SOCOM's as a 1st M1A and it wasn't what they had expected. Most seem to want to sale to buy a Scout or Trade the SOCOM for a Scout or Standard.

Just keep an eye out here and some of the other sale sites...www.gunsamerica.com, www.gunbroker.com, www.auctionarms.com...to name a few...I just picked a like new one up with less than 100 rounds through it and 3 mags from a flyer at the local gun range here for $1100...deals can be had when you find them at the right time in the right place...my $.02
