Is it possible to put a bayonet on the bush rifle? I'm about to buy my first M1A, so please excuse my ignorance.

If it has a standard flash suppressor with a bayonet lug, yes. They remove the lug to make it easier to clean the gas cylinder.

Even if you have a standard lugged flash suppressor on a Bush length rifle, the gas plug prevents the bayo from sliding far enough back to latch.
