Anyone have any tips on removing a clamp on style hand guard. I need to spread the clamp parts with out ruining my new cerakote job.

Can I see pics? I'm not a gunsmith but am curious about the handguard.

Take out the 2 clamp screws. Put a piece of metal shim stock (.025-.030” thick), or something similar in the slot. Run the screws in from the other side (the threaded side) until the screws contact the shim stock. Run the screws in a little farther and they will spread the slot a bit so you can slide the hand guard off the barrel nut.
