I keep finding myself looking at the Henry Long Ranger in either 243 or 308 Winchester.  Anybody in the hive own one?  Would you buy it again?  I love lever guns.  Currently, I hunt with a Marlin .30-30 but might like to be able to reach out to 300 yards with confidence on hogs and deer.  Twice, I have hit a big hog with my .30-30 with 150 grainers (now I use 170 grain bullets)and they ran off laughing at me.  A few other times they have been out just past 300 yards and I wasn't confident in my Marlin to hit them.

I have been interested in the .223 one. Mainly cause I have never shot the .243 and do not know what the recoil is on those. If not to much more than the .223/5.56 then I may get one. I have a fucked up shooting shoulder thus cannot handle to much more recoil.

.243 doesn't have any real recoil in any platform!

Agree 243's are pretty soft shooting no matter the platform.  308's can be a different story, in a moderate weight gun(say 8.5 lbs fully loaded) they can be pretty soft shooting, in something like the savage lightweight hunter at 6.5 lbs fully loaded they can be pretty hard recoiling, especially with 180 grain bullets.  Still if the intent is to shoot past 250 yards I would go with the 308 as, in my opinion, the 243 is a bit light past that range.
