I've been thinking of something more comprehensive than the cheap suction mount camera I have now. Ideally, I'd want a front cam, rear cam, and maybe one or two covering the inside and what's next to the side windows. Not having the budget for a 'real' car system, and not wanting coke can sized modules growing out of my interior, this project has been back burnered.

In my wanderings around Amazon, I found a small, 12v computer system. (verifying its really 12v)

Add a few small USB cameras, maybe boresnake style or small box style, some USB extender cables and camera control software to it....
