I meant to post this here but ended up in gd by mistake.   I think I'm gonna be good for 9mm/.45 for a bit.  Got it put in a magazine now.

The hp38 was in stock for the better part of the day a week before thjs past monay for 17.80 per lb at powder valley.  I had thst 231 as i just got to my last jug in the pic right before ordering.   I also got 16lbs h110 in the same order.

They get stuff and have the cheapest prices bar none but you have to check daily religiously.  They allow 48lbs per day to be ordered.

I've been getting along with a jug of wst and some 473aa for the magnums. It's been awhile since I've seen 231.

I'm guessing HP-38 for 9mm? I'm not familiar with it. I know that W-231 is good for the 45 auto.

It's good to see that handgun powder is becoming more readily available. I still can't find any 2400, bull's-eye, blue dot or Varget.

HP38 and 231 are the exact same powder.   Kinda like h110 and 296.  Hodgdon and Winchester just sell them under different the names.

231/hp38 are great for .45.

It also works we'll for 147gr suppressor loads in 9mm.  It is not good in a pure performance way like highest velocity or low pressure.  What it can do though is get me to velocity and be fast burning enough to keep it quiet.   My loads are likely at the high end of the spectrum pressure wise for 147gr bullets but not so much it isn't safe.  It gives me a quiet accurate load for suppressor use.  Power pistol by comparison out does it performance/velocity wise and at lower pressures but it burns much slower.  Because it is slower burning it is much louder.  More ejection port noise, more Gas to suppress etc.  If I didn't use a suppressor 231/hp38 would not be used for 147gr o mm loads.  It is great for 115gr and 12 4gr loads though.
