Just getting into casting and I bought the wrong mold.  The Lee manual doesn't have any loads for a 450 grain bullet in a modern rifle (Marlin 1895).

Can't find my Hornady manual. Anyone have any published loads?

Looked in Lyman # 49.

In the 1895 Marlin section they have loads for 405 gr and it is the heaviest bullet listed.

Why they didn't list the 475 and 500 gr bullets used in the Ruger section is anyone's guess.

Seems to be pretty standard to stop at 300 or 405

I use Lee moulds and they are fairly cheap. Might be time to get another mould?

I doubt the Marlin action will feed the longer rounds.

Should I stick with a 300 grain?

I think at least some of the 405 grain loads will feed since factory ammo should work through it. (I sold my 1895 Marlin about 20 years ago, so I'm not exactly current on them.)
My Browning '86 SRC will handle 500 grain bullets, but the recoil is more than I care for in a range gun.
ETA: Have you cast any of the 450 gr. bullets yet? If so, load a dummy and push it into the rifle through the loading gate; if it won't feed, you'll have to open the end of the magazine tube to clear it, but that's not a big deal as I recall.

That might save me. But I still need the data. I'm gonna try to load a dummy in tomorrow after work.

I have a 440g mold that I use for a h&r buffalo classic.

i don't load boomers with it anymore, only plinkers that run 1200-1400 fps

favorite load is 15.1g unique - burns clean in this application vs my pistol loads. fps runs 1220 roughly, pleasant shooter.

also have data with this bullet using varget, h4198 & trailboss if interested, fps range from 1028 to 1705.
