I bought a GSG-5 P and had it out for the first time the other day. The problem I have with the gun is that it doubles every once in a while. You never know when it will happen, it just does it every so often. I was using Federal Wal-Mart ammo, 36 gr. hollow point promo load, it works great in my Spikes. The GSG-5 P is fun but I don't need any trouble. Does anyone have any ideas on why this is happening? Possible fixes?
Thanks,
Mark

My carbine has been known to do that on occasion.  I look around to see if an ATF guy is sneaking up on me.

A few hundred rounds means nothing IMHO. It will return at some point, the barrel and breech block don't work themselves out magically.

well its now past 3 thousand rounds, and still isnt back! as it cleared up fairly quickly i put it down to the gun needed running in. I am sure in my case it isnt the barrel/breech, it may be in yours though

From your prior post I was getting from you that it stopped and has not been back after you put a few hundred rounds down range. If it has not come back after 3K that is really odd.

I have never heard of double taps just going away when it is a barrel and breech block issue. Ray at ATI has clearly stated this is what makes double taps occur and nothing else. So if you have not fixed anything to make them stop I am really confused here......

well i havnt, i strip it after every shoot - although the barrel has always stayed in.
it was only the first couple of times down the range with it - cleaned thoroughly between each vist, tbh i had just put it down to a rough sear that had smoothed out and forgotten about it.

i am going for a full strip shortly as im making some "changes" so will have a close look at barrel position etc

I had some doubles every now and then.   When I took my handguard off for the first time and saw that long barrel holddown screw... it was loose.  I put some blue loctite on it and don't remember having any doubles afterwards.

Problem fixed, loose barrel and loose set screw. Set barrel flush to the block and lock tighted the set screw. Will return gun this weekend or when he returns from his job.

I got my gun back from Stevenkids, runs flawlessly! He added the stainless steel screw kit and set the barrel flush and now the thing runs like a sewing machine. To much fun!
Thanks, Stevenkids.
