Awesome and thanks for sharing the pics. The 9K looks so at home on sub guns. I can't wait for mine to be approved.

What's measured OAL with the Rugged mount? Between that and these pictures my money is trying to claw its way out of my pocket like the night of the living dead.

Wish I had purchased that for my K Scorpion instead of my Gemtech Multi mount.

seattlite that TiRant is a nice looking suppressor. Which do you prefer?

Looks awesome! Hope mine clears one day.
You mentioned if the 3-lug coupler gets stuck in the can to simply mount the can and rotate it against the 3-lug to loosen the coupler. I thought about this when my Griffin 3-lug got stuck in my Octane, but I was worried doing that could damage the 3-lug coupler, making it fit looser and wobble in the future. The lack of a wrench for the Rugged 3-lug coupler is the only thing that's prevented me from buying one. What are your thoughts on the potential for this to damage the coupler? |
|
You will love it, much different than the Octane.
I thought about that for awhile too. I wish there was a wrench, we should bug them to make one. I have even thought about making my own out of some delrin pins. The first time or two I shot it it was really stuck in there. I have had copper grease on it since new but it still got stuck. After cleaning the threads a few times and putting a little grease on all the contact points it seems easier now to remove, although today I still needed two hands to unscrew the suppressor from the mount while on the gun. That seems pretty normal for me, I often have to use a wrench to remove the direct thread mount too. I am not too worried about causing undue wear on the three lug barrel, the mount is aluminum so I assume it would wear first. I think any wobble comes more from the fit of the steel insert which should be fine. Worst case somewhere way down the road one could always replace the barrel if needed. I will still likely use the direct thread mount sometimes too, prolonging any wear. Between the two mounting systems I should be ok for a good long time. |
|
Not worried about the barrel nearly as much as the coupler. It seems like the inside of it could be deformed slightly by cranking on it like that to remove it.
I need a 3D printer so I can make wrenches for things that should come with wrenches. |
|
The mating surfaces on the inside seems pretty thick and sturdy, I am not too worried about it. It is just being rotated so I think wear would be minimal. Honestly, unless we get a really good fitting wrench, it would probably be more likely to wear the outside of it trying to loosen it with an ill fitting tool. I just used some high temp barbecue gloves with the little dots on them to rotate it off.

I bought one two months ago and can't wait the tax stamp to come back.

No, the red dot sits right at the top of the front sight blade. The mount is made by B&T specifically for Aimpoints on the MP5. |

Only a little quieter? As a 9s owner and potential 9k buyer, I was hoping for a significant difference. View Quote Per AAC, the 9s provides 22dB reduction dry, and per SilencerCo, the 9k meters at 131.5dB. Unsuppressed 147gr meters at about 157dB..so yeah...the 9k is just a little quieter. The 9k does have a little deeper tone than the 9s so that with a little dB reduction might be "significant". If you want a more "significant" difference you'll need more volume. I seldom use the 9s on the 9mm SBRs....the 9k and the Obsidian now get used the most. |

any 300blk host photos yet? mine's in jail, but I'm planning to use it on a 7" 300blk (talked to SiCo who assured me that both the Omega30 and Omega 9k are safe on 7" subs/supers, despite the "official" number being 8"). Not gonna be super quiet, but we'll see how it goes...

As for 300blk with a 3lug, MAC demonstrates such a beast here (not a omega 9k, but since it is also rated for 7-8" 300blk supers, this would work the same way). He shoots 9mm from MPX, takes the can off the tri-lug adapter and puts it on an AK with a tri-lug adapter and goes to town. The new Sig MPX collapsible brace I tried posting a video but it doesn't seem to work. here's the link MAC shooting tri lug on AK griffin sells a 5/8x24 3-lug adapter that will work nicely on a 300 blackout. griffin 3 lug adapter |

Griffin's Optimus is rated for 300blk in both sub and super (and 5.56) with 3-lug.

Regarding the Omega 9k with the Silencerco 3-lug mount using 300blk super/subsonics...I sent the following to Silencerco and got a response:
ME: I'd like to use the Omega 9k with the Silencerco 3-Lug mount using 300BLK. Is the 3-Lug mount good to go with 300BLK subs and supers? SilencerCo: Yes, that will be fine. Please let me know if you have any other questions. I'm still awaiting word back from Rugged regarding the Obsidian and their 3-Lug mount with 300blk |
