[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Ammo to use to break in new Barrel
ARCHIVED
Posted: 1/28/2002 6:40:50 PM EDT
I have a new Colt M4 upper that I will be shooting for the first time. I have the following ammo that I can use:
1) South African .223
2) Winchester Q3131A
3) Federal American Eagle 55gr
Does it matter what ammo I use to break the barrel in with?

this subject has been torn up here.. breakin procedure A/B/C... or just shoot the damn thing.
I'm for just going out and shooting, just keep up proper maintenance.

It's not gonna make enough difference to be worht the effort on a 16" barrel. Just do it!

Good thought, wrong platform. Shoot it and enjoy it.

OK, thanks for the replies. I'll just blast away with the SA .223 and save the Federal and Winchester for a rainy day.
