Anybody remember this ammo? I found a bunch in my stash today.

I shot thousands and thousands of rounds of that stuff. I would go to Gander Mountain and buy everything they had on the shelf. I think that's the only thing I ever found at Gander that was a deal.

I seem to remember a couple of "Lot years" that were trouble??
Had a bulk packed thousand a few years back and shot pretty good though. Believe mine was M193.

I've got some M855 I've been shooting up lately. Only got a couple more boxes left. So far I haven't had any problems with it. Although..... I think if my memory serves me correct, one time I got a popped primer and it locked up my AR. I'm not really for sure if that is for certain, but I have a recollection of that.

I've got almost 4K of the '98 vintage. Supposedly it was the '99 headstamp that give some folks trouble. You may want to do a 'Net search.

FWIW, the last I'm shooting up has been going bang and it has OK accuracy. I think one of my guns shoots it rather well, but it's not typically overly accurate.

I remember buying a case of it really cheap. After opening a few boxes I found out why.

As a poster mentioned above, the 99 stuff would blow primers quite regularly even in 5.56 spec barrels.

I bought a bunch of it back in the surplus days, it was so bad I called the company that was selling it and they took it back [including shipping costs] and swapped it out for Guat. [which really was great]

They went WAY above what they had to do being surp and while I don't buy much any more, I have pointed a ton of people to them for ammo purchases over the years.

I never had any of the 5.56, but did buy a case of the 9mm. It had some light charges but they never did give me a squib. I am still loading the brass.

I don't know which lot I had of that shit, but the few boxes I bought would literally blow 5 or 6 primers for every twenty rounds. I wound up giving the remaining boxes I had of that crap to a dude who reloaded.
