You can use lacquer thinner to remove most paints, and this does NOT harm bluing or parkerizing.
This is somewhat of a mess to do. Most methods of removing paint WILL attack and remove the finish on wood, and may damage some synthetic stocks. |

BowFlage is another easily removable paint for firearms.
