I have a rubbermaid storage box with AR and AK mags lined up and the rest just fitting where they can.

I put my FAL mags in a .30 caliber box. Ten mags fit in the box, so that's 200 rounds loaded and ready to roll.

You have enough room in your safe for guns and extra mags?

You need more guns!

for a 22 year old college student, to have a nice safe, with enough guns that the mags are becoming a problem....

for 30 rounders you can get the Dillon SL900 bins, I just stack mine in my safe

I use something similar to THIS, since I don't have the room in my safe.
A small job site lock box seems to work well. Protected padlock(s), hard to move when loaded, can be bolted into place, etc...
I place a thin pad on the bottom to protect the mags. If you get a box big enough, you could put individual bins inside.

5.56 and 7.62 ammo boxes works great for me

One more reason I'm glad I'm streamlining to 2 gun types.

I store mine in a shelf in ammo cans that's between my ammo cabinet and my safe.  It's all AR mags as my 1911 mags all get used at IDPA matches.  Most of them never leave the shelf as I typically use the same 3 30-rounders for the AR every time I take it out.

Oh, and virtually all mags, unless NIW, are loaded with one thing or another.

I only keep mags in my safe.  I just let the guns lay scattered about the house!
