I bought mine about 10 months a go. And at that time I paid $215 for it.
Mine has the straight bolt, and ugly wood. All I know about the FR8 is that it was a in between rifle for Spain until the CETME was built. I collect HK rifles, and have a cheap Century Cetme so I like the FR8 because it has a G3 flash hider, HK/CETME hooded front sight. It is a fun little rifle, and would make a cheap trunk gun. Chris |

I bought one from Roses department store when they still sold guns. I paid $99 for it and $75 for a decent condition Enfield No4 Mk1.
The FR8 has a pretty decent kick to it. |

Don't listen to people who say you can't use standard .308 Win-7.62 NATO in the FR-8. It's bull, The FR-7 is the rifle that uses the reduced charge 7.62 not the FR-8. The FR-8s are built on large ring Mauser actions, the FR-7 used the small ring Mauser plus a weaker barrel.

Good rifles. Short but heavy they can use NATO 7.62 ammo. Trigger is not the greatest but they are accurate enough and plenty strong and if you are lucky they will have that neat pull through string cleaning kit in the storage tube under the barrel. I like mine even though I rarely shoot it anymore.
Oh yeah, I bought it long ago for around 135 bucks I think. maybe ten years back. |

I paid $150 for mine, looks unissued.
Sort of wish it wasn't so nice, it would make a GREAT Scout rifle. If a crappy one comes along, that's what I plan to do. YMMV. |

I like mine. I got it for $200, with fresh park and beautiful stock.
It is a fun gun, a nice bridge between humble military bolt gun and black rifle of death. I am surprised they they do not bring a higher price considering the apparent demand. It seems almost worthy of a modern clone. |

Paid $200 for mine 5 years ago. It is pretty clean, fresh park, nice wood. It is by far my favorite old bolt gun. I'd buy another one. |

I've only had mine about a year. Think it was about $200. Came with bayo, sling, sight tool, and 250 rounds of surplus .308. Shoots great but I'm not really fond of the rear sight.
I agree w/ Raf that it would make a great scout rifle. Wonder how hard it would be to make an optics rail... echo6 |

I love them. Great little rifle. Fun to shoot and has a great look to it too. After a few rounds out of the m44 the Nato doesnt seem that harsh!
 Liked my first one so much I own three now. Not as easy to find cheap these days.....

I bought a beautiful example of an FR8 last week at the gun show in Oshkosh. It has dark wood that is in excellent shape and a straight bolt handle. I paid more for it than I had wanted, but I have always wanted one. I haven't shot it yet, but I will soon.

echo is yer gun,,but they dont import FR8's any more.,so i guess im givein the C=R dont bubba it speeech (sorry  ),,,,, the rear site is 100v,,200,300 and 400m,,,,,,,,,,, buncho finfo on cetmerifles.com and gunboards cetme /fr8 page,,,ive had mine fer 2 years now,, i love it! |

I paid $139 for mine at Dunhams.
Fun rifle to shoot. Thinking about getting some wolf or silver bear to run thru it to see how it works.

A friend has on for sale at the fun show for $185. A fellow arfcommer bought an ishapore enfield for a scout rifle project yesterday. He either missed the fr8 or didn't want it.

The FR8 is one of the few guns I cleaned from my collection that I miss....neat gun....but, as has been noted several times....THEY GIVE YA THE BOOT!!!!!

I've always wanted one. Mauser action, just short of 1m long and chambered in a manly caliber, what's not to love?

Thanks, raf, that site had some good info and links. I have been studying Jeff Coopers info for several years now, and am finally going ahead with the project. My 50 year old eyes are demanding some sighting help (missed 4 deer this season) and the scout setup should help. My FR8 is very accurate, and has been begging for some nice glass for some time now. It will be getting a nice Leupold for Christmas. I have found some detachable mags and a syn stock, not sure I want to go that route right now. |

I started wanting one about 2 years ago, but the going price was about $200 and I didn't want to spend that much knowing that they had been going for about $100 when they first got here. Now that I'm willing to pay up to $250 for one, the going price seems to be around $350.

That is how it goes with the milsurps. Nice Garands were under $200 a number of years ago, and the going price for not as nice ones is about $700 now. I bought 2 FR8's for $95 each, and was able to hand pick them from a group of 25. That was in the 80's when they first came in. I tried to sell mine for $250 here in the EE this summer, and had no interest, so I kept it for another deer season. Now I am upgrading it. The combination of short overall length, 7.62 NATO chambering, flash suppressor, grenade launcher, bayonet, and onboard cleaning kit is just too neat a package to pass up. Plus, some of the parts on my rifle have Waffen proofs from WWII. |

The FR-8 was modified from the Spanish M-43 to make trainers. The FR-7 were modified from the M-1916. |

Yup, no real history to them. Not used in any conflict. Esentially a drill rifle. But, they shoot like a house-a-fire!  Fr-8 group. |

FYI, and IIRC, any muzzle device that will fit a CETME rifle will also fit an FR-8. This includes flash suppressors, compensators, and brakes. Just a thought...

they were issued to rear guard and support units <motorpool,cooks and such>
the actions usually need a bit of polishing but they can be damned fine rifles. |
