What is the optimum temperature for gun storage in a safe?  The current room stays cold around 58-60 degrees.  I noticed some rust on a .22 rifle receiver, and was wondering if temperature could be a factor.

Colder steel will in fact allow moisture to generate versus warmer steel. Just coat your guns with a thick coat of oil, IMO.

the only place i have for my safe is in the basement.  it is pretty moist.  i just make sure my guns have a little gun oil on the metal and i went to Gander Moutnain and purchased a box of their moisture absobant crystals.  i bought the next larger box than recommended.  just nuke it in the microwave occassionally to recharge and drive the accumulated moisture out of it.  i've never had a prob with rust.
